"The House of Dies Drear" is about the family called the Smalls who are moving to Ohio, leaving Thomas's grandmother in the North. During the Civil War slaves that wanted to escape their masters traveled to the North and one of places they stopped if they were going all the way to Canada is Dies Drear house.
Then one day, Dies Drear and the two salves he was keeping were murdered. When The Smalls decide to movie into this house weird things kept on happening. But Thomas Small is determined to see what is lurking under the floors of house.

Personally, I thought this book was pretty boring for a mystery. It focuses a lot on the civil war era which l already know so much about.
