a. Lost love suggests relationship between science and art
Rhino Horn suggests the unhealthy realtionship between human and nature. In the work, bottles are used to construct a rhino's horn, which were used by the Chinese to make traditional Chinese medical drinks. As a result, animals were endangered due to the inhuman killings to satisfy cultural beliefs and practices. This work symbolically reverses the process of using the horns to make drinks, making viewers contemplate about whether it is really ethical and reasonable to exploit animals to .

a) The works suggest that humans have a complicated relationship with nature? This can be seen in Tang Da Wu's 'Rhino Horn'. In this work, Tang put together empty Rhino Drink bottles together using plaster, forming the shape of a rhinoceros's horn. As Tang left the bottle labels on, it made it clear that they were Rhino Drink bottles instead of ordinary bottles. Tang wanted to criticise the poaching of rhinoceros for the sake of getting their horns to make medicinal drinks, as the great scale of poaching threatened the extinction of rhinoceros. It thus highlights how humans sometimes kill other living things and animals for their own consumption and benefit without thinking of the well-being of the animals.

a) Both works suggest different issues of contemporary society. Rhino Horn raises awareness the cruelty of humans on animals. Several rhino water drinks are plastered together, to collectively form the shape of a rhino horn. The rhino water is made from the rhino horn that humans have obtained from rhinos. In our contemporary society, we are information-rich, as we have higher knowledge of how to make use of animals to reap certain health benefits. However, we now also have heightened awareness of the ethical issues regarding using animals. In Lost Love, Hirst address the "fishiness" of the gynecologist office. This work is a vitrine of a propped up bed from the gynecologist office, with live fishes swimming around. This can mirror the idea of conception in women, the start of a new life. This can be related to conception

a) 'Rhino Horn' by Tang Da Wu brings to mind the issue of extinction of animals due to poaching and hunting. The work comprises of Rhino Drink bottles, which have been reconstructed with plaster to form a rhino horn. The work provides an alternative perspective to the practice of hunting rhinos down in order to obtain their horns to make drinks that 'boosts' one's health. It makes one question how ethical these practices truly are. The reconstruction of a rhino horn using rhino drink bottles also stimulates the reversal of the process of converting the rhino horn into the drink. :/
