In addition, we have performing arts such as Chinese Society, English Language, Drama Club, Band and many more. These CCAs are able to help you to boost your discipline and resilience to real life situations. Our CCAs also provide camps that consist a lot of activities such as laser tag, water soccer,  kayaking and many more. Money is being provided to let us enjoy these activities???, therefore making these camp experiences once in a life time for you. Moreover, you can have fun , have memorable times, have learning experience. You will be put through our school CCA open house. With so many choices to choose from, you will find yourself spoilt for choices.

Unlike in Primary school, CCA is compulsory for secondary school students. There are 4 different types of CCA which are Uniform Groups (UG),Performance arts groups (PAG),Clubs, Sports. I’m proud to share with you that each of these CCA in Zhonghua has won in many competitions and has taken part in several significant public performances, earning recognitions in many ways. For example, our Choir and Symphonic Band won the 2019 SYF with Distinctions. Our school has also produced many sports men and women over the years. If you're good in sports, you may join our boys' volleyball team or girls' basketball team. These two groups have also achieved outstanding performances in the yearly zonal competitions against other schools. As a member of the volleyball, I have definitely struggled in managing my time between CCA and studies. Thanks to the support from my teachers and the workshop that taught us useful techniques in time management, I managed to develop a routine for myself and have been coping well in both my studies and CCA. In fact, studies have shown that 70% of the students who participate in extra curricular activities beyond the regular school lessons could handle stress better in the long run as they have acquired proper time management skills. So fret not, my dear juniors. What are LEAP points? These are the bonus points that can give you advantage to progress to your dream course at junior colleges or polytechnics after you have finished your N Level or O Level. You probably think that O Level is still such a long way to go, but no! You actually need 4 years of participation in CCA in order to get the highest bonus points of two. You are probably feeling relieved now that you have ended your first large-scale exam but now that you have gotten into secondary school, it is time to worry about your next biggest examination, your O- Levels. When thinking about your next examination, it worry you as you would think it is hard and not be able to get to your next line of education. This is where CCAs will help, they can provide for us some leap points and deduct a point or two from your final score if you take on a leadership role. Although it can increase your workload, this is extremely helpful in reaching the school that you ultimately hope to be in. However, can you imagine spending time doing something you have no interest in or dislike? I would surely lose motivation like this! Initially, I was worried about getting into a CCA which I did not enjoy. But my worry was unfounded. I joined the St John Ambulance Brigade - from knowing nothing about first aid, I have become a Leader of my section, trained to readily help someone in an emergency situation. I have gained many good friends as well as much confidence. This is why you should join Zhonghua Secondary School. In Zhonghua, there are many CCAs like St John brigade, table tennis, band and more. Surely,  With so many options from sports to clubs, you will surely be able to find one you would love. We can provide fun through our CCAs, we can allow you to feel more reassured in secondary 4, Moreover, most of our CCA have earned various competitions and recognition awards such as the Singapore Youth Festival and Chief Commissioner’s Award. In 2019, the students took part in a charitable event that promotes local culture. Their art piece is currently displayed in Farrer Park MRT station. And do you remember the iconic video montage in the 2017 National Day parade? Yes, that was us! Our Infocom club had the privilege and honor to be given a chance to take care of filming for one segment of that memorable video. Moving on to Zhonghua biggest pride. As you can see, in Zhonghua CCA, there are many remarkable opportunities that can help build your leadership skills and can create many unforgettable memories.  also helps forge friendships that can be with you through your school life. Also a few of our CCA's allows you to travel which not alot of schools have. For example, scouts went to South America to learn about how their day to day life is different from ours. It is also an once in a lifetime opportunity for them to gain experience and knowledge from others. This also exposes them to different cultures which they might not have experienced before. Many of us did not have the necessary skills when we joined our CCA. They will give you the necessary training at the CCA sessions such as playing a musical instrument and how to video a film professionally. Hence, that's why you should join our school. Beside the core values of just studying and choosing our CCAs, our school also takes pride in having interesting programs in all levels of students. Firstly , we have the interesting student exchange program. Every year, our school would organize exchange programs for the secondary two students with our partner schools overseas. For example, when I was in Secondary Two, we had different countries to choose from such as Taiwan, Japan, Australia and even Korea! We got to experience the different cultures , learn and try the different food that the country is most popular and known for. You might wonder where did I get to go?Take my experience for example, I got the opportunity to fly all the way to Japan! The selection process was such a breeze that I just signed up, packed up, and off I went! It was really an eye-opening experience for me when I had my first hand experience of the beauty of the scenarios and unique culture of the Japanese.  to experience their culture and the language difference there is between English and Japanese. At the hotel, we were able to experience the traditional tatami futons that are laid out  to sleep on. Every meal, we looked forward to the savory traditional Japanese cuisines such as fresh sashimi, ramen and tempura, as well as their sweet desserts like mocha. We definitely tried the delicious traditional food in Japan like fresh sashimi, ramen, tempura and other many different kind of Japanese cuisines. We were even able to visit a famous shrine where many locals pray to the gods for good luck and prosperity in their lives. And no, I can’t speak Japanese just like all of you. With the help of our tour guide and some simple Japanese words we learnt, we had a whale of a time throughout the whole journey. With so many destinations planned out every year, up to 50% of the cohort would get the chance to join this programme. I am sure this is something each of you can look forward to in Zhonghua.

Besides a strong emphasis on academic achievements, Zhonghua also takes our CCA very serious. What CCAs are there in Zhonghua? You would be very excited to know that Zhonghua Secondary School offers a myriad of CCA for you to choose from. [For example, Uniform groups, performing arts groups, clubs and  sports. CCAs such as UGs can attract juniors by things like their smart-looking uniforms, badges and many of those once in a lifetime activities. Performing arts interest juniors if they have a passion for music like singing and learning new instruments. Clubs on the other hand is not fixed to it's category, like UG being similar CCAs, clubs can have completely different CCAs, like Infocomm and Chinese society. Clubs give a wide range of choices especially with those that does not like any other CCA category. --- this is the same situation in other schools. What sets you apart?] Sports is self explaintory. I am proud to share with you that our school has consistently excelled in performance. For the 2020 GCE O-Levels, 96.9% of our Sec 4 Express students were eligible for JC admission while 100% of them were eligible for polytechnic admission. Our Sec 5 Normal Academic seniors did us proud too. 47.5% of them were eligible for JC and 90% eligible for Polytechnic. As their juniors, I am extremely proud of them! You must be very impressed too and might be thinking if you could be one of them 4 years later, especially you must have heard many people telling you how difficult are these national exams. I can tell you that secondary school work and the National exams are definitely much more challenging compared to primary school. However, there are many experienced and dedicated teachers in Zhonghua who can support you all the way throughout the 4 years journey. Of course, you must also persevere and do your best. Come join us in Zhonghua where you will be guided and supported, inspired and motivated to strive toward your dreams. This shows that the students of zhonghua are very capable of good results and the school helps these students to grow and attain good results.
