We, in fifth grade, have implemented the following based on on today's experiences:
1. We have used our learning targets and success criteria, in math, to create a pre-test, dipstick, and post-test for second quarter. The tests questions are aligned with success criteria, and the multi-step word problem has its own success criteria. This will help us to efficiently define students' instructional needs and begin RTI.
2.We learned a new mental math strategy game from the Number Talk session provided by SC staff.

K and 1st grade discussed how we could implement Emerging Reader to benefit our students learning.

We visited Lewis and Clark today, attending Phonics workshops, Math workshops and Whole Brain Teaching. Overall, we had a good experience learning about how to expand our practices for our students. Our biggest take away was...
Teaching phonics MUST be systematic and intentional. Using as many senses as possible triggers the mind in many ways.

The PD day for speech was full of sharing materials and troubleshooting about unique students. I loved hearing the different materials that other SLPs were using to target some of the same goals that my students are working on. I'm excited to look through the compiled list and think about how I can implement them into my therapy.

While attending a classroom management class on empathy, we learned how to build those relationships more with our kids and also how to think about implementing projects/rubrics with kids, thinking about what they might be worrying about. Really focusing on vocabulary, word use with students and how to be more caring. Relationships trump content! Class meetings are so important! Also sharing and implementing resources with other teachers in the district. Instead of using PRIDE dollars or bucks, using a BINGO for individual rewards. Looking around the school and seeing other teachers' resources in their classroom was interesting, so using others' ideas in my own classroom. Seeing the magic number in one of the math talk sessions would be useful in the classroom because of how much discussion it brings in.

I would love to do a quick share with the staff sometime on how impactful childhood trauma is for the entire lifespan.

We really liked the set up of this PD and the opportunity to learn about multiple different topics of OUR choosing. We loved hearing teachers in our district share what they are doing. We are really excited about some of the new tech resources or tricks we learned about today, like Pebble Go Next and Flipster Magazines. Also seeing how easily our kiddos can find citations for the research they are doing and other features about Britannica that we had not explored yet. We also walked away with a few strategies to enable kids to take ownership of their thinking from our Visual Thinking and Kagan Structures sessions.
