Traveling to countries such as Ghana, Panama, Mexico, Turks and Caicos, and the Bahamas are experiences that I will never forget. I have beautiful memories from all these places in different ways. Going to Ghana and Panama made me appreciate where I lived and the lifestyle that I was living. Going on cruises and going to Cancun made me also appreciate the beauty of those places.

Getting cut from my club team

In 7th grade, I got cut from the A lacrosse team in my area. This left me feeling very sad and filled me with self-doubt. Around this time I started to fall out of love with lacrosse. My high school coach instilled confidence back into me and made me fall back in love with the sport.

Meeting my best friend

I grew up in a predominantly white area playing a predominately white sport. I had very few people of color that I could lean on. In my sophomore year of high school, I met my best friend Kam which changed my life. Kam and I grew up in the same area, with the same people, playing the same sport. We both have the same loud laugh, and outgoing personalities and even share some of the same struggles. The day I met Kam, I met a version of myself.

Running track in high school

The main lesson I got from running track is...to be humbled is to grow. There was so much I didn't know about the sport and I thought that I could win a race overnight but I learned that small steps have to be taken before achieving a big goal. Track also taught me to never hold back and unlock my full potential.

Dislocating my knee

I dislocated my knee during the first practice of the fall season. While this did leave me in a place of emptiness it allowed me to see a part of my team and coaches that I didn't know was possible. 30+ girls overwhelmed with support and filled my body with gratitude. It helped my realized that my setback was for a reason.

My walk with Christ

I grew up in a Christian household where we went to church every Sunday. But I didn't know God or have the desire to know him. That was until I came to High Point and I started to count my blessings and look at the life I was living. There were so many things I loved about my life, but so many more things that I wanted to change. I slowly realized throughout the first semester this was only possible through Christ.
