         <description><![CDATA[<div><a href="http://www.europeanschoolnetacademy.eu/web/mentoring-in-schools"><strong>Mentoring through Collaborative Conversations</strong></a><strong><br></strong>Mentoring conversations can be a transformative space where important aspects of professional practice are debated and emerging professional identities, both as a new teacher and a mentor, can be constructed. Creating a genuinely valuable mentoring experience is possible, and much of it comes through conversation. <br><strong>Good mentors know how to initiate thoughtful reflections and stimulate decisions with their mentee: </strong><br>- There is a need to ‘stimulate’.<br>- Mentors need to ‘scaffold’ the discussion. <br>- It is important to ‘sustain’ the learning conversation. </div>]]></description>

In <strong>the traditional mode, the mentor:</strong></div><div>- Is a protege<br>- Is more senior<br>- Is older<br>- Tells you what to do and how to do it.<br>- Has a lot in common with you.<br>- And, you are either a mentor or mentee.</div><div><strong>The more modern paradigm suggests:</strong><br>The mentee seeks mentors;<br>Mentors may be younger;<br>Difference provides potential for greater discovery, challenge and growth;<br>Mentoring is for anyone, at any stage if life;<br>A mentor is a sounding board;<br>Mentors assist your decision-making and problem-solving;<br>You can be both a mentor and a mentee.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The advantages of video study are many and make it an extremely powerful methodology for studying the instructional practices of teachers:<br><strong>a.</strong> Different observers may focus on the same video as the basis of a shared analysis. This increases inter-rater reliability, and if the required level of reliability is not achieved initially, further training of observers may be conducted to increase the reliability.<br><strong>b.</strong> The use of multiple cameras may allow different aspects of the classroom to be captured simultaneously, and synchronization and the use of a mixer will enable the diﬀerent aspects to be related to each other.<br><strong>c.</strong> Since the videos are permanent records of classroom activities, multiple analyses may be performed. The videos may be analyzed repeatedly, at any time and in any place.<br><strong>d.</strong> The videos may be paused, rewound, fast-forwarded, etc., for further analysis.</div>]]></description>
