Jonas closed his eyes again and saw snow and a sled and he was confused and also saw Fiona's hair as the Giver said you now see red and he explained about the colour red and how Fiona has red hair, and near the end he said now i'm gonna make you see a rainbow.
We find out more and more that everything is chosen for each member of the community like spouses and jobs.

The plan to escape will happen in the next to weeks but Jonas is forced to escape right away because they we're gonna "release" Gabriel. He takes his father's bicycle that has a kids seat, and they leave the community while this happens, they walk across desserts and mountains to get to there location and he sees a sled in the snow and rides down a hill with Gabriel and finally makes it pass the border and all the memories are released through out the community.
