I define my identity as the values I hold dear, the consistency I hold to them and how that shapes my reflection, and the social groups I am a part of or am placed in. I’ve shaped my identity with the lessons I’ve learned and the models I’ve looked up to and the interests I believe I’ve developed intrinsically. I am male, Latinx (Mexican ancestry), 1^st generation American, from the urban (hard) working service class and catholic. To the world many of the previous is true. Those who know me know I am an Educator, writer, handyperson, animal ally, traveler, and generous with time. My identity informs my advocacy. Parts of it helped me develop grit and other parts have signaled where I have room to grow. My identity also informs my fragility, but I’ve also learned to manage.
