I was influenced to read “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone” by J.K Rowling

after a friend said how good that was. I was six when I read the first one.

This book is about a boy, who thinks he is an ordinary child- until he is rescued by an owl, taken to Hogwarts school of Whitchcraft and Wizardry, learns to play Quidditch and does battle in a deadly duel. The Reason… HARRY POTTER IS A WIZARD!

The Harry Potter book is amazing. As you read it your imagination takes over and images fill your mind and encourages you to read more. It just places you into such a mysterious, exciting tale. I would like to thank JK Rowling for making me enjoy reading more than I ever have before.

Oscar Wilde wrote several fairy tales for children, and I’ve known some of them since early childhood. But ‘The Selfish Giant’ became a nice discovery of this week. Here is its short summary.

While the Giant is away, the children are happy to play in his garden. But when the Giant is back, he forbids the children to come. And without the Children the Spring doesn’t come to the Giant’s garden. The Snow, the Frost, the Hail and the North Wind stay in the garden, but the Giant is waiting for the Spring. And it comes with the Children when they find the hole in the garden’s wall. The Giant hears the bird and sees the blossoms, and his heart is suddenly warmer. He goes out into his garden to help the little boy to get into the tree, and the little boy kisses the Giant. Since then the Giant plays with the children every day, but the little boy never comes until the Giant is very old. One day the boy appears in the garden, and there are wounds on his hands and feet. He says that these are wounds of love and calls the Giant to Paradise.

This is a beautiful story about positive transformation and love. Read it!

«The Happy Prince» by Oscar Wilde

Yesterday I read a tale «The Happy Prince» by Oscar Wilde.

This story is about the statue of the Happy Prince and his friend swallow. “Happy prince” is a beautiful golden statue high up on a column in the city. Prince has gold all over him from head to foot, two sapphires in eyes and a big red ruby in his sword. Everyone in the town love him.

But he feels sad about poor people but he can`t leave the column. His friend swallow helps him to give his ruby, two sapphires and gold to all who need it.

Honestly I am not excited by this story very much. But it is a good tale about friendship, kindness and charity. I recommend to read it especially people studying English language.
