Learning Outcome: Reflection and Revision.

I learned reflecting on one another's work helps you grow as a writer just as much as the person you are reviewing does. For example, the writer's paper that I was reviewing has many formatting issues that didn't follow the guidelines of a properly annotated bibliography. I picked up on this quickly due to the fact that she didn't include citations introducing her following paragraphs. I told her what I knew which was that the formula for writing papers like this is first the intro, then citation, research, evaluation, and repeat. Little did I know that when I went back to make sure I was correct we needed to include a references page to finalize our paper. This was unclear but only became clear after revising suggesting that I learned something myself from reviewing another's paper.
Another aspect of revising is the rhetorical strategies that a reviewer may pick up on. Although the writer at hand's format was incorrect, they chose a research topic that could be extremely controversial. Knowing this they followed the last paragraph with a rebuttal to almost everything they said previously which seemed to contradict but opened my eyes to the possibilities of this research. She opened the gateway of the potential of how deep you can go with this assignment if need be. I took note of this and revised my own paper about radiation effects and not only their negative effects on living organisms but why we need it to survive as well.

Learning Outcome: Critical Thinking and Composing
Writing an annotated bibliography is not even the difficult part of completing this type of format of research paper. Collecting the research itself and guiding your paper in the most concise, strong direction in my opinion was the hardest and something I personally struggled with. I found that crafting your prompt after collecting all the research you can about a certain topic was easier than restricting yourself to your prompt from the start. Choosing a semi-broad topic and then crafting a thesis to fit the said data you discovered makes that connection from your summaries to your prompt so much easier. For example, I began to find many research articles about the positive use and effects of radiation which changed the original trajectory of where I was originally going. Photosynthesis absorbs a form of radiation to complete its glucose cycle to produce oxygen for us to breathe. It was fascinating to see the fluidity and flexibility of my paper because with a couple of changes in the introduction and that summary fit right in. This helped me grow in the sense that writing has no restriction on how you should write, it's forms to whatever you feel is necessary.

Writing in the past has always gone to show my improvement over a certain interval of time, but when the pandemic hit it was heavily stunted and I feel I regressed a lot throughout that time. I came back to school senior year feeling not prepared for any of my timed writes in English. But after my first year of college, I feel I’ve gotten back on my feet and am where I am supposed to be which connects to a lot of different aspects of life. Everything kind of stunted its growth during that time but I came back from each aspect such as fitness, school, and sports. Something that is a common theme throughout my artifacts is that I'm writing with intent. I think this trait above all is one of the most important aspects of writing. I'll be using this method of communication throughout the rest of my life, especially if the end goal is to become a doctor. You will see my progression throughout this portfolio as you read along.

Learning Outcome: Conventions
Appealing to an audience whose primary goal is to view my community as something special to me had me specializing in this presentation to achieve such a goal. By providing a simple yet personal presentation helped connect my audience to my purpose. The use of slides was difficult for me because the rubric didn't necessarily tell you how to organize your slides it forced you to do that yourself. Applying the necessities of this presentation, such as the title slide, intro to my community, and interview slide, I felt I should emphasize what my community has done for me. I dedicated a slide to some of my best friends that I met through BJ's which depicted images of us hanging out together at restaurants and parties. I feel the energy this slide brought to the presentation as a whole provided the audience with a personal connection to my community. Neutral tones and a chill background helped paint a picture of what my community felt like.

Learning Outcome: Rhetorical Awareness and Composing
Strategies for analyzing texts’ audiences,

purposes, and contexts as a means of developing facility in reading and writing were difficult for this reading Q&A assignment. I feel I dealt with it better as I learned to put myself in other people's shoes. I never personally ever thought about the absurd thoughts that a lot of people have nowadays about their connection with celebrities that they adore. This made it challenging to understand the satire behind the fact that someone would love Harry Styles to kill them because they like him so much. Seems odd to me but then to understand that when some people love things so much, they resort to violence. You can see in my writing where I began to sympathize with the audience was in the line "I think it can be hard to contain your emotions around someone you feel have a connection with". I feel that broadening your perspective leads to these strategies for analyzing texts that may come off as unrelatable.

Learning Outcome: Critical Thinking and Composing
This is the prelude to artifact two which covers a similar prompt to my final annotated bibliography. I struggled with critically thinking about where I wanted my work to head towards. It seemed as though all the research I had at the time wasn't sufficient enough for my audience to gain perspective on radiation and its effects on living organisms. You can see in the introduction paragraph that I focus on short-term and long-term effects which astronomically restricted my research to two specific things. By providing more citations about a variety of species, suggested that I shift my outlook toward effects in general. I learned to have to support ideas or positions with

compelling discussion of evidence from multiple sources.
