Les Allemands le font prisonnier et l'envoient en Allemagne. Libéré en mai 1945 et il finit son service avec le grade de lieutenant. Par la suite, il débute une carrière politique avec le parti libéral. Roger Teillet sera ministre de l'assemblé législative au Manitoba de 1953 à 1959. Ensuite, il sera député fédéral de Saint-Boniface de 1962 à 1968.
