The community in Grand Rapids is very close together most people live near each other in neighborhoods, and it is a pretty tight-knit community. Already in Grand Rapids, there are lots of programs to keep kids off the streets with lots of organized sports, clubs, etc. The community is still pretty heavily white and speaks English, creating some barriers with race and language.
