Some strategies that can be used for digital storytelling are using writer’s workshop, having students think about the project’s purpose, and sharing and collaborating projects with classmates.  Since digital storytelling is still writing, students will benefit from using the traditional writer’s workshop themes of brainstorming, planning, creating, revising, editing, publishing, and reflecting.  Having students think about the project’s purpose will allow them to focus on critical thinking and decision making throughout the creation of their project.  Finally, sharing projects with other classmates allows for students to get instant feedback to help them improve.

Storytelling is engaging to the learner because it allows them to share their knowledge in a way that is unique and interesting to each student.  Additionally, students get to engage in using various forms of technology which also make digital storytelling highly engaging.

My students will now also get to engage in storytelling while in my classroom. After students learn about a historical event, students will be given a choice board. The choice board will house a variety of ways student can digitally tell the story of the historical events and choices on who's viewpoint they will tell the story from.
