         <description><![CDATA[<div>I found it interesting that they compared the costs of sports and the amount of money they spend to whether or not the child should receive a participation trophy. They're saying that since families pay a lot of money for the sport, the child should at least receive a trophy.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I think not only do participation trophy's make some kids feel entitled, but they are also pointless for the kids who know that they really lost and don't have any real benefit. I remember when I was younger you had to go to the post season to get a trophy and that made me want to work harder to get there, but if I got the same trophy just for playing then the trophy for qualifying for post season wouldn't have as much meaning.</div>]]></description>

While some kids do become self entitled the majority of kids know the real score and don't care about the trophies. The kids will still know they were on the team without the trophy so in the end they end up being a waste of money.</div>]]></description>

I can see how it is a good thing because it encourages kids to play even if they were't the best on the team and didn't get to play that much. But I can also see how it is bad for them because it is teaching them that even if you do bad at something you get rewarded, when that shouldn't be the truth you should have to work harder and better yourself.&nbsp;<br><br></div>]]></description>
