For example in class we were learning the difference between the good and that bad settings, also called utopia (the good) and dystopia (the bad). This leads me to think that their society might be in a very bad environment in the beginning but through one's actions and thoughtfulness it can all change. After this one individuelle begins this and followed by everyone joining in, the environment could change into a utopia environnement. This would all happen just because of one's thoughtful action to give to their environment, neighbours and world altogether. This is what I believe this novel is about and why it is called “The Giver”, because one person decided to give which lead to a big change (dystopian environment to an utopian environment).

One of the reasons why Jonas was worrying about this so much was because he did not know what he hoped his assignement would be or have any idea. 

This society is utopian. The children are told what there feelings should be and everything is almost perfect there.
