In chapter 4, gangsters are referred to as criminals part of violent crimes, and bandits are referred to as robbers or thugs. It was good because Enrique finally made it to the US to see his mother after all the traveling he has been doing, and his sister grew up to have a child of her own. But it was also disappointing because Enrique went through all the trouble to find his mom in the US, just to constantly fight with her and go back to sniffing glue and drinking and not call Maria Isabel to help her out with her new child.

The loop idea was pretty sad and pointless. The idea that his mom didn’t like him was also weird but worked in the context of the story.
