I will provide some images, videos explaining what Car/Auto Insurance is, as well as some websites that explain what factors affect auto insurance, as well as some tips and advices when getting an auto insurance.

A really good video I found on YouTube and I put the link here so you guys can also watch this video and get better understanding of all types of auto insurance. This video explains thoroughly each type of auto insurance, as well as the benefits, advantages/disadvantages. All of the information in this video is useful because it's based on Ontario rules and insurance policies.

A reason I liked this video is because by explaining each type of auto insurance, you can get a better understanding of what you need and what you don't need. For example, when getting a 'quote', it's optional for you to add collision coverage or comprehensive coverage. However, you could get more information on each coverage and see if you are interested in any of these coverages in order to protect your vehicle.

The person in this specific video talks and explains (for immigrants) about car insurance in Canada. He explains step by step on how to buy car insurance through your bank or any insurance company. He shows how to provide some information such as name, DOB, car details, etc. and get a quote. In other words "Quote" means the amount you would have to pay to insurance company / bank.

I decided to put the link of this video because there are some people that come to Canada and have no family or relatives that would help them get auto insurance or give them some type of advice/tips. So this video on YouTube clearly shows and explains how to buy auto insurance. A piece of information that I found very useful in this video is how you can choose the collision coverage amount anywhere between $0 - $5,000 (depending on insurance company/bank).

There are many useful and important information you could find on this website about auto insurance.

The person that uploaded this videos work in one of the insurance companies in Ontario, Canada. He shared with us 13 ways to have/get cheaper auto insurance in Ontario. He explains which specific things make your car insurance go higher or lower. For instance, having no serious tickets, like speeding ticket or dangerous driving ticket, would make your insurance premium go higher. On the other hand, low mileage or having a clean record will make your insurance premium be at lower rate.

I really like this video because it give a very clear understanding of what affects your auto insurance premium so you can avoid it and have your auto insurance be at lower rate. One information that I found very useful is that if you have winter tires installed on your car during winter, you'd be offered discounts for having them on which makes the insurance premium decrease.

Here is a video that shows the 5 cheapest cars to insure in Canada. The cars are Volkswagen Golf, Chevrolet Cruze, Toyota Matrix, Ford F-150 and Dodge Journey. It shows how much cheaper each car is and what specific model is the cheapest to insure. It seems like cars that have more safety features are cheaper to insure. Another thing that affects the insurance premium is the type of the car (sedan, coupe, SUV, etc.), color of the car (cars with bright color is more expensive to insure).

In my opinion, this is a great video showing what cars are cheaper to insure because it gives you an understanding of what car to buy (if you are looking to purchase a new or used vehicle), as well as to know the rate percentage.

It explains each of the factor, as well as proving some factors with examples for better understanding. Some factors that affect your auto insurance premium are age, gender, location, driving history, any claims, and obviously the car itself. To be specific, the brand and exact model of the car, new or used, etc.

I wanted to share the link of this website here because this would give you a better understanding of how auto insurance premium is calculated. One piece of information that I found very useful is that on this website it shows how much your insurance would be at a certain age (17-25 years old) for references.

"What you should know before getting auto insurance in Canada?". Well, this is a great website to look at and see what major factors need to be considered when choosing/getting auto insurance in Canada. There are some tips that would help you to reduce your auto insurance premium. For example, if you add additional drivers or raise your deductibles or get a bundle (auto + home insurance), then your premium would decrease in price.

I chose this website because when getting/choosing something important, such as insurance, house, car, etc., sometimes people need some type of advice or tips that would help them choose something specific faster, or helping them come to a final decision. This website gives many tips and advices that would help someone get a cheaper auto insurance premium so they don't have to pay much monthly. I really liked how it mentions about rates in provinces where Ontario has the highest auto insurance rate and Quebec is the 'opposite' with the lowest auto insurance rate which is a very good information to keep in mind.

1. What did you learn about your topic that surprised you the most?

- Something that I learned from this topic that surprised me the most is that when I was on the website #3 and was reading the list of the cheapest cars to insure in Ontario, I knew that small cars, or cars that don't cost much would be on that list however I saw a car on the list which was Volkswagen Golf that is a really great car to have. The reason it surprised me that it's cheap to insure in Ontario because we, as a family, were deciding on purchasing another car and when I was going through some options I didn't think this car would be cheap to insure compare to it's rivals or relevant cars brands/models. Maybe one day I'd consider buying this car for myself knowing that it's not very expensive to insure in our province.

2. Provide a real-life example of how this topic is relevant or interesting for you.

- The topic "Auto Insurance" is very relevant because couple of days ago we, as a family, decided to switch from one insurance company to another. So before switching we wanted to look at all rates and options before going to another insurance company. So obviously we had to go through all the steps that were mentioned and explain in Video #1, which is the steps to get a quote. We also wanted to get a bundle (car + home insurance) so that way the insurance premium would reduce. Finally, we looked over some factors that affect auto insurance premium so we can get a great value for our insurance premium.

3. If you could pass on your knowledge to a family member or friend, what do you think is the most important thing to pass on?

- In my opinion, the most important piece of information to pass on to a family member, relatives, or friends is the factors that affect auto insurance premium. By knowing how auto insurance premiums are calculated and what affects them would be a very good thing to keep in mind before choosing/getting auto insurance. For example, if you're 17-19 years old and want to have a bright color (red, yellow, blue) 2 door coupe car, then it would be better idea to give up on that for some time and instead buy a used 4 door sedan that is dark color (black, grey) because getting an auto insurance at a young age and having a 'sport' car that is bright color would definitely increase your auto insurance premium. Therefore, the knowledge about the factors that affect auto insurance premium is what I would share with my family members or friends.
