Liem Swie King (born 28 February 1956 in Kudus, Central Java, Indonesia) is one of Indonesia’s greatest badminton players, renowned especially in the men’s singles category during the late 1970s and 1980s.

He rose to international fame with his powerful jump smash, a signature move that became his trademark and inspired many future players. Liem was a protégé of the legendary Rudy Hartono and eventually carried Indonesia’s badminton dominance forward.

Throughout his career, he won numerous titles, including the All England Championships (1978, 1979, 1981), which was the most prestigious tournament before the World Championships existed. He also contributed greatly to Indonesia’s victories in the Thomas Cup, the world men’s team championship.

After retiring from professional play, Liem remained active in the badminton community, inspiring younger generations and becoming a symbol of Indonesia’s badminton excellence.
