In this scenario, Samira helps James feel connected by using digital tools thoughtfully and respectfully. Ethical digital communication in dementia care means protecting privacy, asking for consent when possible, and keeping families informed in a clear and sensitive way. As a PSW, I will use secure tools and share updates that support trust and comfort for both residents and families. Ongoing training for staff helps everyone communicate in a respectful and safe manner.

She approached this concern in a respectful manner and used digital tools to assist James to reach out and speak with his daughter. Samira assisted James to use a secure device to protect his information and privacy, and also asked for his consent to discuss his status with his daughter. Samira demonstrated need to address James' concerns, while respecting his autonomy and decision making and right to privacy given the circumstances. In my own care, I will enact the same approach and respect for privacy and security, while respecting my patient's needs in using digital tools.
