Music has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember! Although I was homeschooled until the fourth grade, I have been playing the piano since I was six. My favorite memory of elementary music was when we practiced for performances, as well as performed, for our parents. My least favorite memory would have to be music theory.
HKC

My favorite memory of elementary music was being able to play different instruments and learning the scales. Being in music classes helped me get into band in fifth grade. I continued doing band all the way through high school. My least favorite part was having to do music programs for the whole school, because I wasn’t a big fan of vocal performances. I preferred to do more with instruments.

I was home-schooled up until college so there was a lot of flexibility as far as my music education was concerned. I remember that during elementary school I had to learn how to play the recorder, which seemed so useless to me, so it was definitely one of my least favorite memories from elementary music. And probably my favorite memory was learning to play violin, which I did for a brief period of time, but I enjoyed it while it lasted!

KE

Im terrible at singing, so I hated school programs and having to sing in front of people. But, I really enjoyed when we would watch musicals or listen to different kinds of music.

One of my favorite memories from elementary music was in the third grade. Our music teacher had a cart and came to our class a couple times a week and she would bring something new on the cart everyday. One time she let us write our own music and she would play the notes on the piano. I was so fascinated hearing everyones piece and trying to guess who wrote which one! One of my least favorite memories from elementary music was when we were practicing singing for the fifth grade musical and the kid next to me through up all over my shoes! It was so gross!

My favorite memory about elementary music, was all the fun instruments we got to play with and experiment with. I eventually learned to love the recorder! One of my least favorite memories was learning the scale and all the notes, it was a very difficult concept for me to grasp. Although I did not like it, it ended up being very useful when I started in choir in high education. I ended up becoming really good at sight reading. So yes, it was not my favorite thing, it was very useful.

KH
