Types of storage devices are: hard disks, DVD's, Blu ray, CD- ROM, CD-R, CD-RW. flash media, tape streamer and network storage VS local storage. Computers store and process data using binary numbers. (Binary Alphabet). A single unit in binary is called a bit which stands for binary digit, e.g. 1 or 10. Computer memory is measured in bytes. 8 bits make up one byte. One byte can store one character, e.g. 1 LETTER. The smallest storage is a bit, then a byte, then a kilobyte, then a megabyte, then a gigabyte, and then the biggest is a terabyte.
