- Explained how she had relaxed against fighting the racism head on because of Jrue. 

- Explains in a deep way about how something happened that made her unable to hide and cover the racism they had experienced on a personal level. 

- Explains how her sister in law got terrified at seeing the officer arrest Jrue. 

- The narrator talks about how she was lucky enough to be able to move on with her day after experiencing racism. 

- Talks about how she owes everything to using her voice. Some are two sentences, others are only a word. I believe she uses this to put emphasis on certain phrases or parts of a sentence. For example, "Theyre almost like tattoos in this way. 

Almost." 

She used the spacing to give the "almost" room to breathe, allowing it to feel much more powerful than if it was simply structured as "Theyre almost like tattoos in this way, almost."

"I suggested we meet “over lunch” — cool move, right? Very professional. Except…… I’m 16 years old, at this small school with 360 kids. And “lunch” literally means “in the cafeteria.” In front of the entire student body. So, maybe not so cool." It was an easy-ish read because it was written like he was saying it all to a friend.

"I remember part of the problem being just how skinny I was. Like, I’m telling you all — I was so so so skinny. Could not put on that weight to save my life. " This whole thing was like a blog, it gave the story but it a more relatable way for the readers. 


"Nah I’m kidding. We never, ever, ever got ripped. And honestly other than growing a few inches, that was pretty much my scouting profile for the rest of high school: short, skinny, shoots some." Overall, this was a very fun read, a little inspirational, and very very relatable.

-The way the Athlete is writing is more like a conversation than summarizing and telling her story in "unprofessional" writing.

-The Athlete talks about her luckiness to be able to move on after experiencing racism.

-Althete explains how she had experienced racism and how she pushed through it.
