The industry that I decided to choose was entertainment as Ai has been involved in it. In regards to entertainment Ai has been found with helping create content with Ai creating scripts, music, and visual effects/ animation for the ease of the producer. Ai as well helps customize for the user with various search engines showing recommendations for the user in order to make them want to be attracted to the service such as spotify with music recommendations. Ai is a valuable tool when it comes to editing with ai editing scenes in order to make the best product come out on the screens which helps editors. Ai can even be the difference maker by it being so creative when it comes to adding things the viewer have an experience like no other with things such as vr or the chatbot answering viewers questions which helps inform them of things. Ai in the entertainment field is so clever that it can detect fraud in order to ensure users safety which is valuable. I chose learning about how ai impacts the entertainment industry as I feel like we the viewer do not realize all of what Ai does for this field as we just see the finished product as I am curious to see what ai does behind the scenes. In this padlet wall I plan on covering three main examples of how ai is found in the entertainment industry more specifically involving content recommendation systems, ai generated content, and virtual characters. The others things I plan on including on padlet is future trends of ai on this industry, how ai will impact society in the entertainment industry, and my reflection on this topic. Before I forget to mention this industry is significant to me as everyday ai is effecting me with the recommendations on amazon, netflix, and Instagram as at times it is helpful but at other times could be annoying

Entertainment-Netflix Recommendation System(Content Recommendation system)

Ai in Netflix Recommendation system is where AI is being used to use the users behavior, previous viewing history, and preferences to find content to entertain the user. Technology being used is machine learning algorithms with collaborative and deep learning by suggestions based on other users viewing patterns and deep learning employed to discover complex searches. Some benefits with AI in these systems is the user is more engaged by using the service longer by attracting them to things of similar interest, very efficient with how fast it finds content, and very adaptable with learning from the user in order to improve the system. Some challenges include privacy concerns with people fearing AI steals their data, bias in the recommended data, and users may feel their is a lack of control in recommendations with wanting more recommendations. I find this interesting as I never really knew that AI was behind this but will say that it has helped me discover many great shows. https://youtu.be/n3RKsY2H-NE?si=EeLBXct1ZyWdmtFb

Entertainment-Ai in Script/Music Generation(Ai generation)

With script and music generation you can use ai such as in Chat Gpt to assist in writing scripts , dialogues, stories, or even movie plots. The good thing about using this AI is you set the parameters with it being creative with its use of analyzing old content in its data and creating new content which appeals to the user. The technology of AI being used includes natural language processing to understand what the user wants and generative adversial networks which helps generate its responses. Jukedeck is a very popular AI system used when composing music as it composes songs from learning from data sets with various types of music. The benefits of using AI in generation is helping artists get ideas by using AI almost as a reference, it is very fast with giving the user information, and is very adaptable to user with their needs/requests. Some concerns when using AI in generation of music and scripts includes questions of originality with the content not being relatable to artist/sending wrong message to audience, copyright issues by the work not being their own, and audiences may question the content with authors ownership of something that they did not create. I find this interesting as AI is so creative that with any set of parameters AI will create anything with its varying responses. The impact can be good and bad with it being good for helping artists that are struggling to come up with ideas but bad in regard to artists essentially stealing someone else's work.

outube.com/watch?v=PslDHs2GyEU

Entertainment-Ai in Digital Influencers and Virtual Hosts(Digital Avatars)

Ai virtual characters use computer vision and motion capture technology to create lifelike animations. The technologies used with AI include computer vision, motion capture, and deep learning. Deep learning is used in this to enhance the characters ability to interact with humans by being able to generate realistic facial expressions , speech, and movement. An example of this is on the Iphone with the animatronic emojis that you can talk to send texts to others with the mouths moving. Some benefits of these virtual hosts/influencers include being available 24/7 with using them whenever is convenient for you, it can be used globally, and very adaptive on user interactions. The down sides of using AI for these influencers and avatars is people being skeptical if they can trust this digital human, these digital influencers could steal peoples jobs which hurts this industry, and ai may not be able to respond to certain cultural questions. I find this interesting as this could be the future of this industry with it being cost effective and the content will only improve. The impact is only at the being as I feel like people will get more comfortable with this overtime. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uTkdqcTvF5s

Future Trends and Ethical Considerations

Some future trends of Ai in the entertainment industry includes the idea of being more personalized to the user with the more people use these ai systems the better the data to find peoples preferences to connect to the user. Ai as well will be used to be a reference for artist and creators with it being so creative to help them when they are stumped with certain ideas. Ai will imply more emotions in the story telling which will make audiences more intrigued with using ai story telling options. Streaming services such as Netflix and Hulu will use the search engines to help connect users with content similar to what they enjoy watching. Some ethical concerns with ai include bias as it needs to be more diverse to be fair of data from different groups of people.Users when using streaming services and other programs where ai discovers your interests the user should have to sign an agreement to know that ai is looking into your searches. Ai should be helpful with questions that the user has and explain the process for why it does certain things. The thing that I would say I find most important with ethical concerns is having the user sign an agreement because I just find it weird how ai essentially monitors your searches just to have you advertised on something else all they want is to make money. Another thing that I would value is an explanation of how the ai is used as I am sure people in the older generations do not understand ai so it would be a good thing for them to be informed

Societal Impact

AI is profoundly transforming the entertainment industry, bringing both opportunities and challenges with broader societal implications. One significant impact is on employment. AI-driven tools streamline content creation, editing, and distribution, potentially displacing jobs in these areas. While automation increases efficiency and lowers costs, it necessitates reskilling and transitioning the workforce to roles that leverage human creativity, oversight, and emotional intelligence—areas where AI still falls short.

Privacy is another crucial concern. AI systems rely on vast amounts of data to provide personalized experiences. This data collection raises issues about user consent, data security, and potential misuse. Ensuring robust data protection and transparent practices is essential to maintain user trust. Moreover, ethical guidelines must be established to prevent invasive surveillance and misuse of personal information.Equity and representation are also at stake. AI can perpetuate existing biases if not trained on diverse datasets. This can result in skewed contentrecommendations, reinforcing stereotypes and limiting the diversity of voices in the industry. Developers must actively work to mitigate these biases, ensuring that AI systems promote fair and inclusive representation.AI's societal impact extends to the democratization of content creation. With AI tools becoming more accessible, a broader range of creators can produce high-quality content, potentially leading to a more diverse and vibrant cultural landscape. However, this also poses the risk of content homogenization, where AI-generated works overshadow unique, human-driven storytelling. My perspective on Ai is that it is neutral with it being a good thing and bad thing. Good thing in regards tobeing creative and offering more jobs but negative in regards to undermining humans

I would say overall I was amazed to learn how much of an impact AI has on the entertainment industry. I enjoyed doing research on this topic from the various sources with each article having a unique perspective on this topic which I personally feel is only going to evolve overtime right now AI has minimal impact but in the future I feel it will have a much stronger impact on this industry. I would say that the one challenge I had from my research was finding the appropriate information to put in this assignment as I feel like I over explain or put unnecessary information in something. I feel that AI impact in this industry will grow once people learn to adapt and trust Ai which will help them generate things and keep users using streaming services with its suggestions. The research influenced my understanding of AI by giving it more respect for all the things that it does as before doing the research I truly did not realize how much of an impact AI has on the world around it.
