My family has lived by the river for many generations. They have fished, farmed, made memories and have seen lots of changes.  Until I was eight we swam in the river every summer but now it’s too polluted and there is not much water left. To see it in this state is a really sad sight. 

 I decided to do the Selwyn/ Waikirikiri river for my project because I love the river and we need to help it to get back its original clean self.

The Selwyn river has been polluted for more than 20 years.  Just recently Coes Ford has gone dry. Stranding many eels and fish, luckily a group of passionate people saved most of them. My dad decided to take some action.  He formed a group of kids  to do a sign on how they felt about what’s happening to the river that they love. 

Sammy, Isaac, Petalo and I each had a board to complete. We all practised and sketched our ideas out, and then painted and polished them up. Then we joined all the boards together and this is what we created. The artworks went to many places and so did I. This is a Padlet of where we have been and where we are going.
