My mission as an elementary school teacher is to daily motivate, inspire, encourage, and support myself, students, and coworkers by providing a loving, structured an open learning community that builds upon one another’s individualized strengths.

I am proud of the fact that I am serving my community, city, state and country by helping to educate our future adult citizens. The progress my students make is of utmost importance to me and I am constantly reflecting on my practice to make sure I am meeting the needs of each student. I attend as many PDs as possible, giving me the opportunity to examine where I can improve. 

I am currently working on a small reading group endorsement. I have never been satisfied with how I ran my small reading groups in 5th grade, and now finally feel like I am on the right track to make the most of the small group time. By the end of January, I hope my groups will be running “like clockwork” with me gathering and recording data on reading and comprehension skills, which I will use to inform future lessons. Based on the work with my district coach, we identified areas I can improve in and next steps to take. I feel confident that I will meet my goal.

I want them to discover and not only value, but love their uniqueness, their gifts and talents.  I want them to realize that knowledge is power and a road to achievement in their lives. I want to inspire them to never give up on their dreams.  I want them to love school and know that I love being with them, accepting them,  just the way they are,  each and every day.

To make a child feel special and appreciated. To make them feel empowered and have self worth. For them to know that THEY matter and that they can make a difference. I want them to know they are loved and cared for. I want to see my students’ laughing, having fun and enjoy learning. I want to make sure this happens in my classroom by giving them time to share about their lives and experiences. By sharing, I will be able to better know my students and what matters to them. I want to make connections with my students and have my room be a safe place of comfort and love.

My vision is that by the end of the school year my students leave my classroom with a metaphorical bag of tools and strategies to resolve, decode, and disentangle whatever type of problem they encounter.  If that problem is an unknown word, a solve for x, or a situation that makes them feel uncomfortable, my students will have a strategy to solve it.
