I believe that students learn best when they are interested in the topic or way of learning new topics. Allowing them to decide what to learn and/or how to learn can help them be more involved during lessons.

Structure & Repetition

Giving students structure (daily schedule) helps students know what is next and helps them feel more comfortable. Repetition is also helpful for students learning new concepts. Repetition also helps the teacher continue to go over things some students are struggling with understanding, without calling those students out.

Quizzing

Tests and quizzes are very important in the learning process. It not only helps the students learn how to study, but it also helps the teacher understand what the students are understanding vs what the teacher needs to change to better teach her students.

Motivation

Students need motivation to learn. As we get older, we don't always want to do our homework. (as a student myself, I have days that are harder than others) As teachers, we need to be aware and give positive feedback to our students and help them find their motivation. Then we need to push them to meet that motivation goal.

Students & Community

Our schools are meant to be a safe place for our students to come together and learn, but also to create community with each other. Our community should be coming together to support our students.
