My next step is to attend Northern Kentucky University Honors and obtain a bachelor's degree in Spanish, minoring in American Sign Language. I also want to participate in a study abroad program to learn as much as I can.

I was born and raised in Northern Kentucky near Cincinnati. In high school I began playing music which is still bringing me joy to this day.  I paused my academic career to pursue a career in politics. Feeling unfulfilled, I changed career paths and moved out west and worked in Yellowstone National Park for a few summers. Eventually, I met my fiancé Tia while living in Colorado and we've created a life of music and travel that brings us both so much happiness. When Covid-19 started in March of 2020 it sidelined live music around the globe. I decided it was a good time to go back to school and finish my degree. I will graduate in May 2022 with an Integrative Studies degree that has allowed me to study many of my interests. I'm grateful for the 'pause' that has allowed me to pursue a degree I've always wanted. As well as being an upcoming graduate in May of 2022, I just became a first-time homeowner, first-time dog mom, and soon-to-be wife to my Fiance! You could probably imagine I have a busy hectic life right now, but I love every moment of it. When I do have free time, I love to travel (mostly to white sandy beaches), spend time with family, and keep my body moving with exercise. 

My overall goal in life is to be successful and be nothing but a light of inspiration to other people. A quote I absolutely love, that reflects this mission is, "I really just want to be the warm yellow light that pours all over everyone I love."

I chose criminal justice and psychology as areas of study because individuals struggling with their mental in the criminal justice system and correctional insitutions are not provided the resources nor representation they need for rehabilitation and success after release. All of those areas of study inform my writing! As a lesbian woman who grew up in the Bible Belt, each minor I've added to my degree speaks to my own life and what I find to be most important to discuss about society. I intend to keep writing for the rest of my life, both nonfiction in multiple genres (poetry, creative nonfiction, etc) and fiction, particularly queer horror/contemporary fiction that tackles the uncomfortable realities of being marginalized in a modern world.
