I am half Inuk and half Quebecer and I am very proud of my roots also a strong advocate for Inuit. As an Inuk I have a lot of artistic traits, whether it's sewing, drawing, carving, throat singing, making tools/music instruments and many more. Previously, I was a co-director in music festivals in Quebec, I was in charge of their Media and advertisement until I moved to Ottawa (2 years ago) and started a post-secondary college in Inuit Studies. Now, I work at a Inuit healing center and a Northern Economic Development Agency and have a huge interest in government relations. Now, I am in your class and I am exited to learn new assets and to work alongside everybody.

My name is Harrison Angel. I don't have a background in design but I do love some general silliness and I know photoshop is a great tool to capitalize on making good jokes. I am looking forward to learning how to utilize photoshop in everyday life.

My name is Anna (Maria Pincu), and here's a bit about me: I'm the first in my family to be born in Canada, not Romania, and I'm the youngest with a brother eight years my senior. I grew up in a rural subdivision just outside of Kemptville, where seeing a "beware of horses" sign was not uncommon. As far as my hobbies go, I consider myself an avid right-brain user. I love creating architectural mockups, sculpting, gouache, charcoal, digital art, and design (I'm so excited to take this course!) Besides the artsy stuff, I play flute, train in Mixed Martia Arts (MMA), and like learning about aquatic animals and linguistics.

Incorporating design into my career as a Public Relations professional seems so fun to me! I enjoyed my graphic design class in high school because I was very familiar with digital art tools. I taught the class a lesson on seamless photo-bashing and photo-editing. I've utilized design heavily in all my business classes to create compelling presentations, so I'm glad that road didn't end in grade 12! I'd love to continue my learning and push my skills as a burgeoning professional!

I am Rwandan(East African) I was raised in Marseille which is in the south of France making French my first language, I am very passionate about Diplomacy and fashion at large, I used to play basketball before and I actually thought I would make it to the wnba till it wasn’t my dream no more hhh . Fun fact I have a weird obsession with croissants where I can eat it anytime, anywhere and with anything.

My name is Mallory,

I love the outdoors and everything that comes with it. I will jump on any opportunity to go camping. Whether it’s in tents, in a quince, or even under a tarp. I’ve been downhill skiing since I was about seven. I started cross country skiing two years ago, I have a love hate relationship with it. But that hasn’t stopped me from going on two cross country backing packing trips so far. Canoeing, hiking, climbing, my mission is to do it all! This summer I even explored spelunking. I played rugby in high school and ultimate frisbee, which is my absolute favourite sport.

Aside from the outdoors, I love to cook. I’ve worked in a number of kitchens and have picked up a passion along the way. My friends and I have a lot of potlucks which works out perfectly since I love to cook for others.

I am very excited for this course and the Public Relations program as a whole.

My name is Bonnie,im new to Canada and Ottawa.I was born and raised in Ho Chi Minh city (SaiGon) in VietNam.One of the most busy city in Asia.You guys may know SaiGon from the VietNam War.Yes,we have a rich history and culture,but its not just that anymore.Our city now is so morden and beautiful.I love my hometown so much,especially the food.I used to study in Swinburne University in Melbourne,Australia and used to be an assistant coach in basketball for the uni.I travel around VietNam and Asia with my boyfriend,an Irish and i got affected by his accent alots,so please anytime i say something and you don't understand,just ask me again.I love food,cook,makeup,wear cute outfits and dogs.Maybe can't wear cute outfits anymore cause Canada is freezing!!I spend my time on social media quite much,i think that's one of the reasons why i choose to study PR.Im a Gemini so ofcourse i got a very energetic side,its just doens't show much as first cause im shy,but please talk to me,even sometimes i sounds very boring and awkward.I believed in " Treat people the way you want to be treated" so i hope we can be nice to each others.

I'm from Quebec and I recently graduated with honors in Spanish. I love European culture so much! Their languages, art, music and fashion interest me so much. I'm super obsessed with the European song contest called Eurovision.

So much so that I'm actually banned from talking about it at my house ... oops (I take any excuse to talk about it).

Besides Eurovision specifically, I REALLY enjoy music. I would consider myself to have an extreme variety of music I like. As expected I listen to a lot of European artists but it isn't limited to that. If you are someone who'd like to explore some new music I'd love to give you some recommendations!

I love to travel so much! I've already visited 24 countries. We have a family curse that something crazy happens to us on every vacation. My favorite was when we accidentally snuck into one of the Pope's masses and got super close to him. Or maybe when the TSA stopped us in suspicion of carrying a bomb (spoiler it was my brother's lightsaber)

Anyway all that yapping aside, I'm so excited to work with you guys, you seem like such lovely people!

My name is Sophie. I'm super excited to do this program as I just spent the last two years at the University of Ottawa studying PR. I'm looking forward  to engaging in more hands-on learning at Algonquin. I’ve spent my whole life in Ottawa, so I'm now at the point of hoping to move to a larger city after I finish school. A fun fact that I'd like to share is that over the last year, I've gotten into running. In fact, I'm actually running a half marathon in two weeks at the Ottawa Army Run. My friends don't think I'm capable of this, as I'm only 5'1" with small legs, but I can't wait to prove them wrong!

Hello, my name is Bianca. I am 18 years old, and I absolutely love PR.

I have two wonderful parents, Mélanie and Ivo, whom I love very much, and my annoying brother, Dante, who loves to irritate me lol!

I am from a small town called Rockland, about 1 hour away from Ottawa. I went to a Catholic high school called L’escale, so going to Algonquin is a dream for me, as L’escale lacked diversity and culture. I love trying new foods and learning about other cultures, which is why I love to travel! I hope that I am lucky enough one day to find a job that allows me to travel abroad!

I currently work at a hotel called the River Rock Inn as a Front Desk Clerk. I love everything about my job: the people, the coworkers, the atmosphere, the owner, and the animals—yes, I said animals! We are a pet-friendly hotel, so I often see cats, dogs, and the occasional rabbits and hamsters. Since we are a pet-friendly hotel, the owner often brings her two gigantic poodles to the office while she attends business meetings. I love looking after them; it is so wonderful!

Apart from that, I have many hobbies, such as fitness, reading, cooking, baking, and spending time with friends and family!

My name is Pyper, i'm nineteen years old and i'm from a small town outside of Cornwall called Ingleside. This will be my second time in a post secondary since I did one year at Nipissing University before transferring here!

I love sports, specifically hockey. I also love baking! (I make these really good chai cookies). I really like video games and music (Mac Demarco). I transferred to Algonquin to go into PR because my goal after school is to get into a job with a sports teams social media team!

I may seem kind of quiet but I love when people come up and talk to me! It makes me really happy and makes me more comfortable to talk to everyone!

Aside from school, I enjoy staying active, by going to the gym and going on walks(while it's still nice outside). I like to draw and paint, which is why I'm looking forward to this class. I have always wanted to use Adobe to see if I could bring any of my designs to life but the program is a little pricey for someone not using it professionally.

I'm also excited to get to know everyone better!!

First of all I want to apologize for the horrible picture😔 but I think you won’t have a hard time recognizing me seeing as I am the only person with brown and pink braids in the class. I am 18 years old and I was born in Burundi, which is a small country in East Africa. I have 3 siblings that I love spending time with. I really love music, I’ve taught myself how to play my favorite songs on the trumpet and saxophone. In terms of design, I am not that creative, but I can’t wait to learn! I have had some experience seeing as I was im charge of my high-school’s social media during my senior year. I’m looking forward to getting better as the semester goes on!

I moved to Ottawa two years ago to attend uni and so far, besides OC Transpo, I really like the city! I love checking out new cafes and parks, which Ottawa has plenty of. Everyone always says Ottawa is boring but it is far from that when you’re from a small town! I’m from Collingwood where outdoor activity is a big part of everyday life so I don’t think I would survive in a city that doesn’t have as many green spaces as Ottawa. When I’m not getting lost or delayed on OC transpo I love to craft, thrift and cook! In high school, I worked in an organic cafe and worked with some cool guest chefs and nutritionists, so I am always trying out new recipes and using the skills they taught me!

I'm from a small town on the outskirts of Ottawa called Osgoode and have spent a lot of my days in Kemptville as well. I've been playing hockey since I was 6 years old which has led me to various opportunities', including playing some games in Europe. I also love golf and softball with my buddy's. I am the proud owner of my dog Genie who is a major mut, mostly boxer and husky, but she has a touch of many species.

I'm looking forward to starting PR and excited to see what my future holds.

My name is Ava and I am so excited to start Public Relations. I just finished two years of school at the University of Ottawa and transferred to Algonquin this year.

I love socializing, making new friends, going out, reading, and watching new movies.

I can't wait to see what we learn in this course and how to apply it to Public Relations. I do PR for my sorority and run all of the social media accounts so I am excited to see what I can put towards that as well.

I'm Yousif. While I might not have any kind of training in design. I’m excited about diving into Photoshop and discovering how to use it to create some entertaining and clever visuals. Looking forward with this powerful tool in my everyday life!

I have been using Lightroom and Photoshop for a couple of years, I love photography and focus on landscape or outdoor scenes.

I prefer to be on the ocean, so living in Ottawa will be a struggle. I am incredibly lucky to have grown up in a coastal area and will return to one again evntually.

I dream of visiting/working in Ireland. There is a lot of history between Newfoundland and Ireland and I have always wanted to explore that.

My name is Fariya Abdikadir. I was born and raised in Uganda, but my roots are Somali. I moved to Canada in 2021, and I’ve been loving it here ever since! I’m coming from uOttawa, where I did the first half of this program, and now I’m excited to complete the rest here.

I actually started out studying Digital Journalism at uOttawa, but it didn’t quite click for me, so I made the switch to Public Relations, which feels like a much better fit.

When I’m not studying, I love hanging out with my friends, though I’m definitely more of a homebody. I’m obsessed with Korean dramas and have even picked up some Korean from watching them! Oh, and fun fact—I learned Hindi just from watching Indian movies. So if you’re into K-dramas, definitely hit me up!

My name is Jaylynn Im 18 years old (2005), I was born and raised in Ottawa but spend most of my Summers at my campsite located in Summers Town just outside of Cornwall. My moms side of the family is part Irish, Scottish and French Canadian. My dads side of the family is part Irish,Scottish and Acadian they live in a town in New Brunswick called Petit Rocher. Sadly I am not fluent in French, but can somewhat speak it.

I Currently live at home with my Mom and my 2 younger siblings as well as my dog Darla, my cat Grumpy, and my hamster George. I currently work at Pet Valu and have been there for over a year, as you can tell I'm an animal lover.

I enjoy reading, mostly thriller and romance. If you have any book recommendations let me know! I also enjoy thrifting, and binge watching tv, some of my favs are The walking Dead, Criminal Minds, Gilmore girls, The hunger Games and 10 Things I hate About You. I'm also super creative and love art as well as makeup It's such a fun hobby I really love the diversity it has and how creative you can be with it, It's such a cool form of art.

Reading, writing, and socializing are way more suited to my personality, so I'm eager to see where this program will take me! As a young man who always loved design and graphics, I'm excited to learn more and improve myself while having fun. That's also why I'm excited about Public Relations (PR).

I am a huge music girly, I spend hours discovering new music and listening to it. I also have a super diverse music taste. I love theatre and performing. I love cooking, I’m pretty good at it (if I do say so myself), I also love thrifting 🤘🏻.

I am so so excited to do this program, so far I love everything about it. It just seems perfect for me. I am planning on going to either. Carleton or U Ottawa after I graduate from Algonquin.

I love listening to all kinds of different types of music, at the moment I am obsessing over my Spanish playlists.

I've never been exposed to any forms of design in my life so I am really looking forward to learning a lot of new things in this class.

I am Basira Osmani, from Kabul, Afghanistan. My family and I moved to Canada after spending 5 years as refugees in Tajikistan. Those years were challenging, but they taught me a lot about patience and hard work. Now, I work from home as an interpreter, helping newcomers who are still learning the language.

I am really into writing and communication, and I am passionate about photography. Taking pictures through my camera is something I love, and it also connects to my interest in music and storytelling. A show I am currently watching is "The Gentlemen” on Netflix and catching up on anime. I am also a big fan of Lana Del Rey and old classics.

One of the best parts of this class is the chance to connect with all of you. I have already met some amazing people, and the program is super engaging. I love how we all get along and support each other. It has been great so far, and I am excited for the journey ahead with such amazing classmates.

If I'm not at school or involved in related activities, I'm most likely designing a graphic, hanging out with friends and family, writing a song, capturing moments on my camera, or assisting on set or at church! Coming from a creatively rich family, with my brother being a Cannes-recognized film director and multi-hyphenated artist, my sister an NAC-acclaimed photographer, my little sister a skilled painter, and my mom the master of unique hospitality, there's no escaping a creative soul in my household!

I've joined this program to grow and learn more about the fields I'm already exploring. I cannot wait to spend the next two years alongside great people like you all!
