The Vietnam war was a proxy war between Russia and America. They wanted a way to fight eachother without actually fighting eachother, so, they both picked a side of vietnam and supplied them with military grade supplies. Of course, Russia chose the communist Viet Cong forces, because they were influencing communism.

In my own opinion, I do not think the war was justified or worth it. It wasn't our land to try to "Free" from communism, and we definitely didn't need to draft civilians into the war to die for nothing. Once America left, it was considered a loss. It didn't benefit anyone, and it undermined the American Military. The only good thing that came from the war, was that it was an alternative to a Nuclear War

These were angry people that were either drafted, have been drafted, or have lost people to the war. Songs like Fortunate Son, Sympathy For The Devil, Gimme Shelter and For What It's Worth are all songs protesting the war.

Because of the rough jungle terrain, helicopters were mostly used. The helicopter you probably think of when you think about the vietnam war is the UH-1 huey helicopter. These helicopters were equipped with ladders for extracting different personell in places it was impossible to land, and heavy machine guns on the opening for mowing down large viet cong militia gatherings. Or farmers. Or villages. Basically whoever and whatever they wanted to

America did some fairly horrendous things in the Vietnam War. They used more than 14 million tons of explosives. Thats twice the ammount of bombs america had dropped during WW2 all on an area not much bigger than california. These bombs killed many, many civilians, but it gets worse. America dropped several different types of chemical weapons such as Napalm. These chemicals removed vegetation, farm land, villages and humans. It was flaming liquid that would rain out of the sky, burning everything it touched.

Drafting was the process of picking out young civilian males healthy enough for the military, and forcing them to go over to Vietnam and fight. If they refused to go, they would be charged as a draft dodger. Do you think that drafting was fair?

America had sent many people that had nothing to do with the war, to vietnam, to die for literally nothing. Farmers were killed, land was ruined, and theres still explosives that havent been detonated in vietnam today. Do you think that the Vietnam War could've been handled differently?
