We hired out the production equipment and set it up in our rehearsal space in Allerton, and allowed crew to test out equipment. I thought that this would allow the crew to familiarise themselves with the equipment again as it may have been some time since they used it and I didn't want this to hinder their progress during the production weeks. I then met up with production crew to allocate paperwork that needs to be completed this week e.g. risk assessments and location release forms.

The director worked with the cast on the fight scene.

My plan was to have a meeting to discuss current progress and what tasks were still outstanding and needed completing before production.

However, some members were late for the meeting meaning we were unable to start straight away and I felt as though the meeting wasn’t as successful as I planned for it to be.

First day of production – Filming in café (Kith&Kin), as I work in this cafe we were able to use this location for free as I could supervise. It was also helpful because I knew where things were placed in the cafe so if objects needed to be moved then I could ensure (along with continuity) that everything was put back into the original places, as well as being able to help set dec.

I moved all of the original cake domes to the side of the kitchen, and then got the cakes out and placed them into the domes for display.

We were filming in peel park, and this triggered some challenges particularly due to the weather. The cast members' moods were almost immediately impacted due to them having to wear costumes whilst out in the cold. We had extreme weather conditions, even down to 2 degrees and needed to film the combat scenes and so it was understandable that this caused some tension on set.

I supervised, helped to fill in log sheets and helped to move equipment.

Filming in Peel Park day 2 we were more productive but had to stop filming due to snow - I made the executive decision as the producer to stop the shoot for the well-being of the actors and crew.

We also learnt that for future shoots that take place outdoors we need to film for shorter periods of time (in 1 hour chunks) and have more regular breaks rather than powering through with filming.

We filmed in the house for Veronica's bedroom, and we also used the living room. Our location manager found this location and personally knew the people who live in the house, however when we were filming it seemed as though the other residents had not been informed that we would be using the house for filming, and at times it was difficult to record sound due to the sounds of the residents living in the house.

We had a very productive day filming at Kith & Kin.

We were able to set up very quickly as I closed the cafe the night before and moved the domes into place in advance so that we could begin the day with a head start. We then used the photos from the previous week and I helped to set up the decorations.

Final filming day in Peel Park. I assisted with the clapperboard, and the production logs. I also helped out with anyone who needed assistance on set. There were some moments on set where I had to step in as actors were uncomfortable and upset. I tried to help keep the actors warm and feel comfortable and asked multiple times whether they were okay, but the actor did not respond much. I then made the decision for us to all go inside and have a break, and then when the cast and crew were ready we went back outside and continued to film the last shots with some adjustments so that an actor could go home.

I asked all crew members to send me any receipts that they have from pre-production and production so that I can work out what was spent and send them to Mark Fox for refunds. We spent £213.10 in total which is £86.90 under budget. I then bank transferred the money to people to refund their expenses.

I put all of the copies of receipts into a OneDrive folder and labelled them into relevant budget categories.

Due to not having to pay for locations, we were able to use most of the budget for taxis to transport us and the equipment to the locations.

As producer I asked some of the production coordinators and assistants to help me to complete the risk assessments, location applications and to create production logs.

I delegated some tasks to the production crew, Queeneth filled out most of the risk assessments, Sirag created production log templates and printed them, Joe and Queeneth completed the Peel Park risk assessment and I filled in the filming application form.

I created a schedule for the first week of pre-production, then Tia (1st AD) created call sheets for each day of production.

I will insert these documents, however they were not all completed by myself.

I explained how I wanted the production log to be laid out, and Sirag Benelhag created this document which worked really well during production.

I went to watch the edit of the film and to see the progress that had been made. There were still adjustments that need to be made but I was very impressed with the visual camera shots and how smooth everything looks when it is put together. Around half of the edit was complete.

Me and Mara met with Lara and she also watched the current edit.

It was my role as producer to make sure that all paperwork was done and that the rest of the production crew knew what they needed to do as this keeps the film creation running smoothly.

Rea and Irving (2015) explain how the producer is often described as "the person who engineers all the elements necessary for the creative and business aspects of production". I have found that this is true as I have had to 'engineer' and gather the relevant documents, as well as ask people to be in specific places at specific times to ensure production can go ahead. I have also been able to contribute to the creative aspects of production and have a say on set design and camera angles that I feel may be beneficial. An example of this was when I helped out with the props and set design for the cafe, as I was more familiar with the location I suggested which cakes to have out and added little finishing touches such as coffee beans in the coffee machine to make it look like the cafe is actually in use.

I wore a hi-vis vest when we filmed in Peel Park as I thought that this would make members of the public aware that someone was supervising the action and filming. This reduced the chances of any members of the public being alarmed at the fight scenes etc.

It also made me more visible to the cast and crew when it was dark so I could be spotted if any assistance was needed.
