For so long, she yearned for love but eventually gave up after being in an abusive, loveless marriage for 20 years. But Tea Cake comes along and lights Janie up with passion like a match to a candle that's never been lit. The lyric "watch as our world has begun" reminds me of how Janie only really starts living once she meets Tea Cake, and their lives are so intertwined that it is like they're in their own little world. I chose Two Birds by Regina Spektor because I think it resembles Janie's marriages a little. In the song, one bird longs to fly away, and wants the other bird to come as well, for both to be happy, but the other one seems to egg on the bird to fly, and that it'll go as well, but it doesn't. I chose 'The Less I Know the Better'  by Tame Impala. This song seems to have a strong link to the book thematically, in that Janie's life is filled with emotional turmoil in her quest to find love and a life that suited her.
