This is the first sign of Jack and his personality we see. It allows us to infer that he may become more brash or violent in the future. This is encompassed through the lyrics, "All the respect, I need all the respect". As well as the lyrics, "Lost in all that shit, aye put respect on my name"

"He began to dance and his laughter became a bloodthirsty snarling ...' Come on! I'll creep up and stab--'"(golding, 64). Jack wants to kill the pigs for meat, but as he keeps talking about killing, he becomes obsessed in a way. this is one of the first times we see him become violent, and the song lyrics "Dagger to heart coming down on you I wanna stab you in the heart I wanna stab you in the heart Right in the bloody, bloody heart" directly relate to the way that Jack wants to stab the pigs, as well as the overall violent nature of the song.

Jack wants to break the rules, he believes they are stupid and useless. He also wants to create his own "tribe" giving us the sense that he is going to become savage, or tribal. he also teases and belittles Ralph and Piggy for their rules. this is shown through the lyrics, "Just keep on breakin' the rules, breakin' the rules Get ready You just keep on breakin' the rules Come on get ready, get ready, get ready Ready to rule Ah, take off your ties and your regulation shoes You're nothing but a bunch of regulation fools, yeah And your damn regulation rules I'm gonna do things my own way Everyday, everyday, everyday In every way I ain't gonna pay no attention to your rules"

Jack's tribe becoming savage

"The sound of mock hunting, hysterical laughter, and real terror came from the beach." (golding 92). Jack has started a trend of pretending to hunt down a pig, played by a member of the tribe. Many times it has turned violent and they have started to hurt the member playing the pig. In this case, the "play" has turned real, and shows the tribe's animalistic tendencies, while they also still have a sense of civilization. this causes confusion in the kids' minds making them "play it out". this is shown through the lyrics, "Dancing on the crumbling precipices The rocks are coming loose just at the edge Are we laughing? Are we crying? Are we drowning? Are we dead? Or is it all a dream?" as well as "Is the violence in our nature Just the image of our maker?"

Jack is already a violent character, but when he kills it is primitive, as if something is taking over his body. he feels like he needs it to live and without it he is incomplete. this is conveyed through the lyrics "Am I going insane? (Insane) My blood is boiling inside of my veins An evil feeling attacks (attacks) My body shaking there's no turning back"

"Demonic figures with faces of white and red and green rushed our howling, so that the littluns fled screaming." (Golding, 140). jack and his tribe have painted their faces and started to howl as they ambush Ralph and Piggy. these actions are savage and animalistic. this is revealed through the tribal attributes of the music.

(Golding 152). Jack's ritual has gone so far that he has murdered another person, blinded by his primitive and animalistic need for violence. This is shown through the lyrics, "The red headed stranger had eyes like the thunder And his lips, they were sad and tight" and "Don't cross him, don't boss him He's wild in his sorrow He's ridin' an' hidin' his pain Don't fight him, don't spite him"

Jack knew that he killed Simon, and most of the others knew as well, but he is so blindsided by his need for violence, he ignores this and gaslights and manipulates his tribe into believing they were in the right. He also wants to be seen as a hero, to make him more popular and adored. This is demonstrated through the lyrics "Gaslighter, denier Doin' anything to get your ass farther Gaslighter, big timer"

Jack has realized that just because he was feared by others doesn't mean that he was in charge. he also realizes that he wasn't a good leader. this is shown in the lyrics, "Fighting off the demons in my head And so I gotta get up now, and feel incomplete So I just lay down and I go to sleep Dream about what life just could have been If I would have had trust in myself, that's all as all Everybody loves me, but I don't deserve it (Na-na, na-na-na) Because I don't even do, I don't do shit on purpose"

Isabelle's PadLit was a good representation of how Jack became more savage and violent as the book progressed. The explanations were very well written, with few things that she could have done to be better. The overall quality was at an exceedingly high level. This is truly one of the best connections that fit with the songs that she chose, without overstateing anything. I think Isaelle's ideas were very well executed and worked well together to make an awesome Padlet.
