Spartan hoplites used a panoply of bronze armour and an iron tipped spear, fighting in a dense formation called a phalanx. Hoplites were heavily armoured Greek infantrymen whose primary weapons were the long thrusting spear(dory) and the large round shield (aspis or hoplon).

Athens and sparta had similar citizenship. Sparta was differant to athens, especially in Military focus. Overall Sparta was more significant because of their military strengths and discipline and women freedom. Today the trait of militarian focus is still impactfull.
