    • Activity 2 (upper elementary): Prior to reading stories and watching videos about bullying, students will be asked to pay attention to behaviors they observe in the characters and to note similarities they may have observed at school and how it made them feel. Using their notes, students will create a storyboard of a bullying scenario as well as create a virtual bulletin board. The idea being that this will inspire their acts of kindness toward their fellow classmates and bring the students closer together through understanding and kindness.

She and her brothers, Henry and James, walk to school every day through the woods and at home would do chores and take care of the animals on the farm. All under the protective eye of Toby, a WWI reclusive veteran who lives in their community. One day this happy existence is shattered when 14-year-old Betty Glengarry moves to Wolf Hollow to live with her grandparents. The bullying by Betty that ensues for Annabelle seems manageable at first but quickly escalates to crueler activities. 
     
    This story pinpoints the escalating nature of bullying and what happens when the situation blows out of control because the victim is too scared to ask for help. While the story has an extreme type of ending, it is important to recognize the impact bullying has on a child as well as the need to break the cycle that allows bullying to persist.

It also brings in examples of bullying at home which is not often spoken about in bullying books.

After doing some role playing with her mother, Monica felt ready to stand up for herself. At school Hà is being bullied by “Pink Boy” who relentlessly harasses Hà until one day Hà’s older brother, Vu, strolls in on a motorcycle making Hà part of the cool crowd. Hà’s story brings out the roll of prejudice or differences that might make someone the target of bullying.
