Secondly, parental indifference also contributes to this problem. Some parents are busy with work and don't pay enough attention to their children. This at home makes teenagers turn to social media for comfort and to feel less lonely

Another reason is curiosity. Teenagers are always curious about the world around them and social media provides a lot of interesting and entertaining content. Once they start watching a video or reading a post, it will be difficult for them to stop watching

In short, the excessive use of social media among teenagers today is becoming more and more common. Excessive use of mobile phones can come from many reasons in life. Therefore, teenagers must know how to balance and use their phones wisely and effectively.

First, two of the main factors contributing to teens' excessive use of social media are peer pressure and social conformity. Currently, teens are in a developmental stage where peer acceptance and social relationships are very important. Friendships are maintained and social status is frequently displayed on social media sites like Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, etc. Because of this, many teenagers feel that in order to stay socially relevant, they must be online all the time, checking for updates, replying to messages, and publishing content. Third, the overuse of social media also gets worse by the absence of organized activities or interesting offline alternatives. Teens frequently lack of accessing to their hobbies, extracurricular activities, and secure outdoor areas that would keep them busy. Due to a lack of alternatives, social media takes over as the primary means of social interaction and entertainment. The COVID-19 pandemic has made this problem worse by forcing many teenagers staying indoors and increasing their reliance on electronic devices to stay social and prevent boredom.

Lastly, a lack of knowledge about technology and oversight from parents also plays a role. Many teenagers use smartphones and the internet without supervision and without receiving the necessary instruction on how to use them wisely. It's possible that parents don't monitor their kids' online activity or don't set limits on screen time. Teens are more likely to form unhealthy social media habits if there are unclear guidelines or they are not aware of the negative consequences.

In conclusion, teenagers spend too much time on social media because of a mix of social, emotional, and technical reasons. Things like pressure from friends, how addictive the apps are, not having other things to do, needing attention, and not having enough rules at home all make the problem worse.
