Sheikha Lubna is a valuable role model since she was a pioneer to women in the UAE and demonstrated that women could be leaders in the top ranks. As Górak-Sosnowska (2015) says, her success broke the stereotype regarding women in Arabic cultures and gave a new generation the opportunity to view leadership as a domain where both men and women can be represented. Personally, she is not only a politician but also a leader in the field of education that promotes some values, including innovation, empowerment and tolerance that also carry significance in schools too.

Sheikha Lubna frequently discusses the qualities of courage and perseverance that relates to the theories of leadership that we studied in class including transformational leadership. People are inspired by the vision of transformational leaders and assist them to achieve their potential (Reed et al., 2019). I relate to this as, as a student teacher, I was taught that being a leader is to motivate children to achieve success even in cases of difficulties. As an example, in case a lesson fails, I do not surrender. Rather, I change and resume until my students comprehend.

These qualities are important to me as a future teacher since they relate to my practice. As an example, vision can assist me in planning creative lessons, resilience can assist me not to give up when the lesson is difficult, communication can assist me in establishing rapport with students and their parents, and empowerment can remind me that I should motivate my students to believe in themselves.

Problem-solving skills were also developed in me. As an example, when a student would misbehave and distract others I provided him with the role of classroom helper. This made him responsible and minimized his disruptive behavior. This informs me that leadership involves being able to make innovative solutions.

My other quality practiced is positive thinking. As a student who had been struggling correctly read a word, I complimented her before the entire class. This inspired her and made other people to never give up. Positive thinking will provide a supportive atmosphere in which students can learn in a safe environment.

I also value responsibility. At the Al-Aryam School where my MST was not present, I conducted the entire lesson using the materials that she provided me with and only later proceeded to the sports field. This experience demonstrated that I am capable of taking responsibility and making sure learning does not stop even without any supervision.

Lastly, I respect at all times. I appreciate students by asking them to explain their questions. I admire employees and value their ideas and contribute to their projects. I honor parents through openness towards them in terms of attending to their concerns and participating in meetings to the advantage of their kids. Leadership is based on trust, which is created by respect.

My Leadership Qualities Warrant my being a strong leader.

I think that my communication, problem-solving, positive thinking, responsibility, and respect are my strong attributes that position me as a good leader. Such is the case of the EDU Networking Club, which I managed, and the Best Teaching Practice Event which demanded teamwork, problem-solving, and communication. These experiences have demonstrated to me that being a leader does not mean just being able to handle tasks but rather to be able to support people and motivate them to work to the best of their abilities.

We both value learning. Sheikha Lubna studied overseas to enhance her leadership and I use the teaching practice to learn as well as become a better teacher. We both are believers in teamwork. Sheikha Lubna engaged in work with the teams in ministries, and I do the same with students, staff, and parents to establish a favorable environment. We also both focus on growth. She has been promoting the UAE economy and the opportunities women have, and I do the same to children learning and their self-confidence.

Differences:

The magnitude of leadership differs. Her leadership was at national and international level as Sheikha Lubna headed, whereas mine is still in the classroom and school level. She also served as a government strategic leader where I serve as a leader in minor aspects by teaching and planning. The other difference is that of public engagement. Sheikha Lubna works in the international level, whereas I work in personal relationships within my school community.
