Operation Breakthrough by Harper Grace

Hi! My name is Harper and I am in 6th grade. I chose Operation Breakthrough because I believe that everyone should be able to have a safe, loving home. I love the difference Operation Breakthrough makes in our community helping families, and I think that no child should have to go through trauma, be homeless, and not have anyone to support them or care for them.

After picking Operation Breakthrough and discovering their mission, we knew we had to help in a great way and make a big difference. My partner and I decided to have a bake sale because I love baking and she loves eating cookies. At the bake sale we raised over $300, but after paying back our start up cost we had raised about $250. One lady even was kind enough to donate all the money her running group had collected that day for the homeless to our bake sale. Which was about $30.

My partner and I also went to Operation Breakthrough to tour and do training for the future because we are not old enough yet. While we were there we learned that Operation Breakthrough had many different fun events happening. While we were there we also asked what they especially are in demand for currently. Their response was things like fun cereal kids will like, pop top canned foods, feminine hygiene products, and toothbrushes. On Friday the 18th we plan to go to Costco and Dollar Tree to stalk up. Then, we will deliver the things to Corita’s Place. After that we will be done with our action plan.

During this service project I learned many things. I learned that my organization, Operation Breakthrough, has enrichment programs for children. My partner and I even got to see some of the things the children and teens are doing in these enrichment programs. In one program kids were making food and in another people were growing plants inside. There was also an area where kids were making name tags using a laser that cut through wood. But the most amazing thing that we saw was this area called the ignition lab where kids were turning gas powered cars into electric cars. One of the cars was Jason Kelsey's truck.

One thing I learned about myself from this experience is that I can do great things. I saw how people trusted me, and wanted to help a good cause. That made me happy and confident that I can make a difference.

Hello, I'm Teddy, I’m in 6th grade. I chose Children's Mercy for my service project because I have many friends and family that work there to help save peoples lives. The hospital is constantly helping kids all around the Midwest. If Children's Mercy wasn't here there would be thousands of young children sick. All of my friends and family are grateful for Children's Mercy because they have helped all of us. My progress has been a lot since me and my partner did the dollar day on March 12. We did a dollar day where kids bring in a dollar for Children’s Mercy. With the money we made, we bought the stuff for the happy kits. Then we packed the happy kits. On April 15 we dropped off our happy kits at Children’s Mercy. From our dollar day we made a total of 380 dollars we spent 197 on Amazon, 87 at the dollar tree, and 103 dollars left over that we will donate to Children’s Mercy. Some facts are that Children's Mercy has been in Kansas City for more than 120 years. Children's Mercy has about 600 medical students come in through them each year. It’s one of the nation’s largest Child Life programs, making the hospital experience more comfortable for patients and families. I learned that it feels good to make children feel good.

Hi! I'm George, I am in 6th grade. I chose Harvesters for my service project. I learned a lot about hunger in our area. I learned many facts about Harvesters and how they help provide food in our area. We had a lemonade stand during Chick-fil-A lunch on Wednesday, 4/16. We raised over $330 thanks to your guy’s help. That same day, me, and my partner Connor, went to Aldi to buy food for meal kits. Then, on Thursday, 4/17, we helped assemble 30 meal kits at Harvesters. We also donated the rest of the money we raised to Harvesters. I learned a lot from this experience at Harvesters, and helping hunger in our area. It has been very cool to learn about Harvesters, and helping them in person. For more information, here is my service project web page on Harvesters.

Hello my name is Gussie, I am a 6th grader at St. Elizabeth’s School and this semester I am working on a service project. For this service project I chose Noah’s Bandage Project. This is an organization where they collect colorful bandages for children in hospitals all around the world. I chose to do this organization because I believe that every child should be happy and to me happiness can be just a little colorful bandage. To support this thought me and my partner Maggie M. decided to have a lemonade stand and a bandage drive. We earned roughly $215 in the lemonade stand, and we will hopefully earn more! In the bandage drive we collected 35 boxes of bandages and 7 arm wraps. Through this project, however, I learned that I can make a difference even in the smallest ways. I also learned how many children are suffering with illnesses around the world and how many people help, and how many don't!

Hello, My name is Charles and for my S.T.E Service Project I choose Children’s Mercy. I chose Children's Mercy because my mom works there. Another reason I choose Children's Mercy is because I am 12 years old and it is a hospital for children. It is always important to have a hospital that specializes in children making your stay if you are in the hospital more fun. If you have to go to the hospital Children's Mercy is a great place to go because of all the awesome staff members. The Service Project first started as me thinking it wouldn't be fun, but now I think it’s fun. At the beginning I didn’t know what to do. Now I have fun adding to my Padlet and to my webpage. I have learned that service for others is fun and that doing service is fun. On March 12th we held a Dollar Day where you could bring a dollar to help us make Happy Kits for Children’s Mercy. We made $380 and made 44 Happy Kits and gave Children’s Mercy $103 cash. A fun fact about Children’s Mercy is that they have about 600 medical students come in through them each year. I learned a lot about neurological disorders during this project. I learned a lot about Joshua Center and how it provides for and helps people with neurological disorders. I learned that I love to help people from this project. To raise money Preston and I had a candy jar guessing game on the week of April 7th through April 9th. I had to put 914 pieces of candy in the jar. We put the candy jar in the middle of the hallway so everyone could see it and make a guess. They would have them bring in a dollar per guess then they would give their guess to the teacher. We made $192.25 and we bought things off of the Joshua Center wish list with all of that money. I loved learning about Joshua Center and how they help the community. To learn more about this, here is my web page on Joshua Center.

Hi! My name is Maggie Mohn, and I am a 6th grade student at St. Elizabeth's school. For my Spring Service Project, I have chosen to work with Noah’s Bandage Project. I chose NBP because I love helping young children who are in-need, and Noah’s story is so awesome and it really touches me. To Noah it was more than just a bandage, it was a badge of courage and honor. And when they’re colorful and bright, they can mean so much more. We started our project with a plan to purchase and donate bandages to their organization. The first thing we did was have a lemonade stand and raise money for bandages, and we raised about $215. Then we hosted a bandage collection at my school. we collected a variety of bandages and roughly about 35 boxes in total. My last thing that needs to be done is purchase the bandages and then drop them off. One thing I have learned during this project is that anyone can make a difference, no matter your skin color, heritage, background, or social class. Because even a smile or comforting greeting can change a person’s whole day.

Let me tell you some information about NBP. They have collected over 7.02 million individual bandages, and have also given 1.2 million dollars to pediatric cancer research. They have also funded 7 research grants at Children’s Mercy Hospital. Another accomplishment of theirs, is that they have shipped bandages off to other countries and even continents! Such as Australia, the Netherlands, the UK, and Africa. NBP has done so much and will always be accomplishing more. I gained so much from this spring experience, and I look forward to what I can do with my time and talents next.

https://sites.google.com/stekcschool.org/mmohn/home

I chose BikeWalkKC because they help people who don’t have bikes. I feel everyone should have an opportunity to experience the joy of riding a bike. The progress on my service project is going well, and I will finish my Padlet on May 2, 2025. While working on this project, I learned that Kansas City had a very large biking community, and this organization helps to provide this experience to others. My service for BikeWalkKC involved attaching instructions on bicycle helmets so people can use their new bike helmets appropriately. I didn’t know that there were so many people in Kansas City who don’t have bikes. You can give your old bikes to BikeWalkKC who will repair them before they are donated. I really enjoyed giving back to my community. This project taught me, when you work together with others, you can work faster. Mother’s Refuge helps mothers that are homeless, need help,or needs a place to live.Mother’s Refuge provides a transitional home for mothers who are 18 years old or older, they provide driving, diapers, wipes and lots of other things the reason I chose Mother’s Refuge is because I think no mother should ever be homeless, need help or being unable to take care of a baby. Mother’s Refuge offers classes to help new parents learn how to take care of a baby and themselves and they don’t always help if it's not necessary because they want the mothers to learn to be inndependent. I learned a lot about hunger in Kansas City and facts about Harvesters. In 2024 Harvesters distributed 60 million pounds of food. Harvesters has distributed over 750 million pounds of food. My partner George and I’s action plan was to have a lemonade stand at our school’s Chick-Fil-A lunch on Wednesday, April 16. We raised over $330 dollars thanks to any who donated. The same day after school we went to the grocery store and bought the stuff for the meal kits. Then on Thursday, April 17 we went to Harvesters and assembled the meal kits. We made 30 meal kits. With the rest of the money we had, we donated. I learned that Harvesters helps to raise food, but also other household items like shampoo and body wash. It was very cool to volunteer there in person after I learned a lot about them. For more information about Harvesters this is my service project webpage. Thanks for watching my video. Have a good rest of your day. https://sites.google.com/stekcschool.org/chinkle27/home

I chose Bags of Fun KC because I want people to be happy even when they are sick or are stuck in the hospital. Bags of Fun KC makes bags of toys, games, and electronics for patients. My partner and I had a bake sale on April 23 from 4:30-6:00. We will donate the money to them. Something I learned that everyone should have something to do because it can be very boring and lonely when you have nothing to do or don’t know what to do, so I want to help and support Bags of Fun KC so that everyone has something to do. So far we have done our bake sale for our service and got about $110, we hope that the money will be used for something fun in the bags..

Hello, I’m Colton and I chose Noah’s Bandage Project to research for my service learning project. The reason I chose to represent Noah’s Bandage Project is because they give hope to kids with cancer and give money for cancer research. Freddy and I raised 166 dollars to purchase bandages for Noah’s Bandage Project. We are thinking about going to purchase the bandages on Monday, April 29. When we buy the bandages, we will give them to the school who will give them to Noah’s Bandage Project. I made progress over time on everything I did while doing this project, and I got pretty good at all of the things I did. We thought about doing many things before we landed on a snack stand (which is basically a lemonade stand that sells snacks) at Arno Park. When we did the snack stand on Thursday, April 17. It was very fun because all of our friends came by and bought snacks and drinks. When I did this project I learned that I love helping people.

Take a look at my project webpage:

https://sites.google.com/stekcschool.org/cbeach27/home

Hi! My name is Kevin and I'm a 6th grader @ St. Elizabeth. For my service project, I chose to help the Veterans Community Project because I learned about the brave things that veterans do to protect our country. Hearing about the difficult battles they fought and the sacrifices they made opened my eyes and made me want to help them. My partner and I decided to do something special, so we organized a sock drive during the first week of April. We collected about ninety dollars' worth of new socks! A few weeks later, we got to visit a Veterans Community Project center, where we helped out with their needs. When we got there, we started by sorting all the food donations and checking the expiration dates to make sure everything was safe. Then, we put them on the shelves for veterans to use. We also organized toiletries in a special area. These items are for veterans to “shop” for once a month, which is pretty cool! Even though we were there for just a little while, I enjoyed it and learned a lot. One surprising fact I found out is that 50% of veterans might not have a safe place to live. I also learned that some states, like California and New Mexico, have a lot of homeless veterans. My time there taught me that if I want to accomplish something, I just need to do my best! If you want to learn more, you can visit my webpage. Thank you!

https://sites.google.com/stekcschool.org/kpreeta27/home

Mother's Refuge Service Project By Maggie K.

Hello, my name is Maggie King and I go to STE. I chose to help Mother’s Refuge for my service project. I chose Mothers Refuge because I love babies and little kids and personally I think it is really sad to know that some young families and children do not have a safe home or don’t even have a home at all and think about not having a home. To help those who don’t have those mothers that don't have resources for their children we started by collecting diapers and wipes from our school and parish that went pretty well. I think we got about 6,000 diapers and wipes, which we are very thankful and grateful for all the donations we received. Afterwards, we transported all of our donations out of the school. We took them to their mother's refuge where we unloaded them into their greeting home. All the imployes that helped unload the diapers and wipes were very grateful for all the donations and said they would need them alot, which I was glad to hear. On the same day we were there we helped at a church event that they were running, while helping them there we met many nice people including the woman who manages mothers refuge which was super fun. There were so many people volunteering at the event that it was good to see. I learned that mother’s refuge is a smaller organization compared to other organizations in Kansas City and that the smallest action or service like scooping popcorn goes a long way. I am so glad that we got to help out Mother’s Refuge and their team of people that help the young mothers and their families. If you want to learn more about mother’s refuge and how to help them and my project then you can visit my webpage.

Also when I was young I wanted to do it as a job, but really why I chose it was because of the kids in the hospital so I thought I could help them in times. My project increased a lot and started at about 100 dollars but a few days later I am at 5,700 dollars because of my marketing video and also because of my games event. At the end of my project I raised about 6,200 dollars total for Bags of Fun! I Learned about how Bags of Fun does this for a reason to help children in need of help! For my service my partner and I went to Mother’s Refuge to volunteer. I was volunteering for about two hours. We helped by filling popcorn bags, helping the kids in the bouncy house, and putting tablecloths on the tables. We also went and dropped off diapers at Mother’s Refuge.

Hi! My name is Lucy and I am in 6th grade. I chose this organization because I think that everyone needs to have a safe and loving place to stay. I also believe that children should not have to go through such hardships at a very young age. Operation Breakthrough also helps kids have parents through their Parenting Program which is very important for kids.

I love how Operation Breakthrough makes our community better by helping families, and I think that no child should have to be homeless at such a young age.

We picked Operation Breakthrough and discovered their mission, at the bake sale we raised over $300 but we had to pay our parents back for the cookies so we really raised $250. One lady even donated $30

We went to Operation Breakthrough to tour and do training for the future because we are not old enough yet. When we were there we learned about all the events that they hold to raise money. On Friday the 18th we plan to go to Costco and Dollar Tree to pick up the items. We have not delivered the products yet but we will do that in the future

During this service project I learned many skills . I learned that my organization, Operation Breakthrough, has care programs for children. My partner and I even got to see some of the things the children and teens are doing in these programs.

One thing I learned about myself from this experience is that I can make a difference. I want to help a good cause. It made me happy and confident.

Hi, my name is Leah. I chose to serve Bags of Fun KC because I really love what they do by contributing toys to kids in the hospital. Once I looked at the Bags of Fun KC webpage, I knew that was the organization I wanted to serve for. I love how their staff really cares about the kids and how their parents feel loved also. These backpacks really brighten their day and cheer them up. Everyone is brought happiness and love by the staff at Bags of Fun KC. Then I started my webpage and worked on my padlet. I finished my webpage pretty quickly. My padlet took a little longer, but I still made sure to finish it. I had a bake sale fundraiser for Bags of Fun KC at Brookside Toy and Science. Margie is my partner, and we had all of the treats and signs finished a few days before the sale. We had our bake sale on April 23, and we made about $110. It was fun to have our friends and others walk by and see our hard work, and we met the really nice workers who let us have our bake sale outside of their store. They even bought some stuff from us, and we gave them some treats for being really kind. Everyone who came by was really positive and supported us. What I learned about Bags of Fun KC is that they are a non-profit organization that gives backpacks of fun to kids who are bored in the hospital. What I have learned about myself is that I have learned to really appreciate organizations for what they do to help others and accomplish goals. Now that you’ve watched this video, feel free to go look at my webpage that I have created.

https://sites.google.com/stekcschool.org/l-mahoney-2027/home

Hello, my name is Hannah and I chose Happy Bottoms. I chose Happy Bottoms because I wanted to help mothers and fathers have clean diapers for their families. Happy Bottoms has helped many families by supplying diapers. They have over 75 different distribution centers around Kansas City. I learned that a bunch of families do not have diapers, and they can cost up to $100 per kid. So, if you just don’t have $100 per kid, that can really hurt your wallet. At first, my partner and I did not know what we were going to do for our service project. We were going to do Children's Mercy, and host a drive of some sort or raise money, her mom said, you should do in person service, so we chose Happy Bottoms. My partner and I went to Happy Bottoms on the second of April. We packed diapers and labeled them. We had so much fun packing diapers. I learned that many people need simple things. It made me think of what I have. I’m very thankful to have had clean diapers. Thank you, for more information, please look at my web page. https://sites.google.com/stekcschool.org/hsimmons27/home

Think about the joy they would feel to see a backpack stuffed to the brim with fun toys to play with in those long waits at the hospital.

How my passion project has progressed:

In the beginning looking back I was unorganized and unprepared for the work that was needed to complete this project. Until I actually started to try to list all the things that I needed to do I thought this project would be easy. The list was pretty overwhelming knowing that I had wasted a lot of time in the beginning. I overcame this issue by planning each day I had free time to work on my project so I could work on a little piece at a time. Only after planning the project out did I really make progress. Without a good plan I would not have called my uncle Terry who owns a toy store to see if he had any toys he could donate.

The result of my project:

My goal was to save 450 dollars so I could pay for a backpack full of toys. The result of my hard work was 540 dollars. With that amount I made enough for a backpack as well as a small bag of toys for his older sibling. It was very rewarding to pack a bag and I was very proud to be able to do or be part of something bigger than myself. Seeing the pictures of the kids made every class worth it to see them happy with their new fun toys.

Inviting viewers to visit my website and Padlet:

Lastly, I would like to mention my website which contains my reflections and much more information about my project and the organization throughout the things I had to conquer and meet face to face with challenges.
Revolve KC by Aiden

Hello, My name is Aiden and I am a 6th grader at St. Elizabeth’s. For my service project, I chose Revolve KC because I love riding bikes and believe that anyone who wants a bike should have one. Revolve KC does just that. They have an Earn-A-Bike program that gives a bike to anyone who passes the safety course for only a slight cost. I really enjoyed serving the people and seeing all the happiness a single bike brought them. Most people who go through the Earn-A-Bike program are homeless, without another way of transportation, which makes supporting Revolve KC that much more special. My project progressed a lot, and there were many steps before I could do my service. For my service I went to Bike Walk KC because Revolve KC didn’t have any in person service opportunities. I helped put bike lights into baggies with a card about safety. It was about 2 hours of service. After doing my service, I learned that many people can’t afford a bike and most of them are homeless. Revolve KC has been doing a great job of decreasing this number, and so far, has had 1,500 people earn bikes through their Earn-A-Bike program. I also learned that anyone can help, even kids, and they can make a huge difference in the world.
Mother's Refuge By Karolina

Hi, My name is Karolina and I am in 6th grade at STE. I chose Mother’s Refuge for my service project. Mother’s Refuge houses and gives life coaching classes to homeless and pregnant mothers to the ages of 12-21. I chose Mother’s Refuge because I think that it is important to have loving parents that will take care of you to the best of their ability. I also chose Mother’s Refuge because I believe that no mother should go through struggles alone without somebody to help guide them through it or be at their side. I couldn’t imagine going through hardships alone. That’s why I think that the impact Mother’s Refuge has on their clients and their community is very inspiring to me. I love helping out my cousins and family by babysitting because it brings me such joy playing with my little cousins. So I wanted to bring that joy and happiness, through my services, to Mother’s Refuge. Therefore, after we had picked Mother’s Refuge, my partners and I, Maggie K. and Avery, wanted to have a school drive for diapers and wipes. We asked our church and our school to help us donate. Our collection went on for a whole week and it went great! I am so grateful and happy that our community and parish helped us out. In all we raised about 6,000 diapers and wipes, but to make that money wise, we raised about $500 to $700. To be honest I never thought that we would receive that much. But I am glad we did! Then my partners went to Mother’s Refuge to drop everything off. I wished I could, but I had a family get together. My partners said they were super grateful and excited to show their clients. I am so grateful that I could give my services to Mother’s Refuge because I knew that I would change the lives of others. Personally, I learned that the feeling of when other people help out and donate, it feels awesome because they are always helping you make a difference in someone's life.

Hello my name is Brady, and I am a 6th grader at St.Elizabeth. I chose Revolve KC because I love bikes and I feel like everyone in Kansas City should be able to have a bike and helmet. Our group felt passionate about doing a project with bikes, and we found the link about revolve KC. When we looked at the link, we learned about Operation Blinky. This is where we packaged bicycle blink lights for the bicycles they would be providing to families. As a result of our volunteer effort, the organization was able to send out big bags of lights along with their helmets across the KC metro area. The blinking lights along with helmets were sent to refugee families who needed transportation, students learning to ride for the first time, and many other people. I learned that many people in KC don’t have bikes, bike helmets, or blinky lights to get from one place to another. I also learned that I really enjoyed helping people at Revolve KC, because I realized that I can make a difference in peoples lives. I invite you to visit RevolveKC.org to learn more about the organization. I have also attached my webpage information below. I thought the service project itself was really fun. I do still think that the project was challenging at times, but I’m glad that I accepted the challenge. I also chose Revolve KC because they teach kids how to ride a bike. My project progressed a lot, and there were many steps. Like first picking your project and even how you are going to help the company serve. My first step was learning about the service project. Then choosing a partner. I chose Aiden as my partner. Then we both agreed that Revolve KC was a good choice. Then Reid and Brady joined, which was great. Then we did our in person service at Bike walk KC because Revolve KC does not offer one.

Hello my name is Robin and for this service project I chose the organization of Van Go. The reason I decided to choose Van Go above all other organizations is because of their goal to help people struggling with mental health issues and helping them heal through art. This has been one of the most difficult projects I have ever done. Planning and organizing were among the hardest things I had to do. Partly because I am notoriously bad at communication. The in person service changed so much, mainly due to me being careless. My lemonade stand had earned 42$. I learned about how art helps people and how impactful Van Go truly is. I was able to learn that I try to do too much and plans ultimately fall through. In the future I shall be a LOT more organized. Thank you, and before I sign off, be sure to visit my webpage https://sites.google.com/stekcschool.org/rkinerk27/home.
Kanbe's Market by Terry

Hi! My name is Terry and I am in 6th grade. The organization I chose was Kanbe’s Market. We chose Kanbe’s Market because we thought it sounded interesting.

While learning about Kanbe;s market we also learned a lot about food desserts and the struggles of people who live in those food desserts. With the help of my mother we set up a GoFundme and shared it to all of our parents friends. We actively promoted the fundraiser and were able to raise $325 that went directly to help our neighbors living east of Troost.

It was eye opening to learn that my own neighbors don’t have access to fresh food. While talking to my mother I learned that when she was growing up there was only one small market in her neighborhood. If people needed to fill their fridge they had to drive no less than 15 minutes to get groceries. Many of her neighbors did not have cars so without the help of others they either had to use the small market or ride the bus meaning they could only get enough to last about a week. A lot of us don’t think twice about when we will have food in the house again or how we are going to get it, but it is not the same for our neighbors living east of Troost.

I learned that I am very lucky to live in an area where I can just walk to a store with fresh food and that we need to work as a community to bring the fresh food to our neighbors.

We built a page at https://padlet.com/tbaldwin27_1/kanbe-s-market-9c4q0ux2r6bqbtp1.

Hi, my name is Louie and I chose the Sherwood Autism Center for my service project. Many factors go into why I chose them, I mainly chose them because I wanted to make an impact on other people's lives, even if it was only going to help clean up and run some stations. I wanted to show that they really are the same as us in many ways. To help out the community I went to The Sherwood Autism Center to help out. Me and my partner ran a photo booth where people were able to take photos with some funny accessories. We also invited 4 other friends who did not have an in person activity to go with us. 3 of them ran a parkour course in a gym. It was really fun to see how they had the same classrooms, specials, and other things similar to us. The only thing different was that they learned about things like social awareness, or how to get a job, which are just as important as what we do. Although we did not do anything to make money like a lemonade stand or bake sale, we still made an impact for the good. Thank you for your time.

My webpage work:

https://sites.google.com/stekcschool.org/lburge27/home

Hi! My name is Wilson, and I chose the Sherwood Autism Center because we wanted to help people who had a hard time learning. But, we also wanted to learn more about autism and how it affects people. This project has made me understand that autism makes people very unique, and that shouldn’t mean that they can't learn or that they get jobs. Sometimes, people who have autism are more smart than others, and are extremely capable. Also, they can do things that even I can’t do, or you can’t do. For example, some can tell what day of the week a random date is on. Autism isn’t a bad thing, it just makes someone all the more unique and special. For my service project, I helped the Sherwood Autism Center during their spring event, where the students could play games and have fun. The experience helped me understand that autism differs in each person, and in some, you couldn’t tell them apart from an average person. Autism may sometimes be challenging, but it is still not a negative part of someone. So, that is why I chose the Sherwood Autism.

If you would like to know more about the Sherwood Autism Center, please click on the link below.

https://sherwoodcenter.org/

My webpage work: https://sites.google.com/stekcschool.org/whayes/home

For my spring service project, I picked FCA, which is an awesome nonprofit organization that collects gently used sports equipment to help kids in need. Over the last few months, I’ve been really busy! I attended a cool fundraiser at Sherwood Autism Center, where we took fun pictures, signed cards for the kids, went on an exciting tour, and even helped out at the obstacle course and the photo booth. I want to give a big shout out to Mr. Mohn because he donated golf clubs for First Tee, a youth golf program in Kansas City.

Hi! My name is Luciana and I had the chance to help Giving The Basics for my service project. Giving The Basics is an organization that helps to give people proper hygiene if they cannot afford it. I chose Giving the Basics since I wanted to make a change. I never want to see someone in trouble and with no one to help. I am also a strong believer that everyone should have the materials for proper hygiene. No one should ever have to feel insecure about how they smell or look. So when I chose Giving The Basics, I knew I would help make a difference. The experience was very new to me, and at first, I was a very nervous person. I didn’t know what to expect. I was not very excited for this project, but my mood changed in the end and it was a fulfilling experience. I had a lot of fun listening to all the people's experiences at the Giving The Basics HQ. I am very happy that I got to experience the service project and it has changed me not only as a person of faith, but also in service. Thank you for listening to my presentation and have a great rest of your day! Also, please check out my website about my experience throughout this service project!

My Website https://sites.google.com/stekcschool.org/llasalle27/home

Hello, My name is Flossie and I chose Giving the Basics for my organization. My service project started with me and my partner researching what Giving the Basics is all about and how they help those in need. As the Service Project progressed I learned more and more about Giving the Basics and it made me more and more proud of my choice for my organization. Here's some information about what they do. If you didn’t already know, Giving the Basics provides basic hygiene products to those who can't afford them or do not have access to them. They have 2,370 locations, helped 3,410,975 people, and distributed 28,588,091 products. I chose them for my organization because I see lots of homeless people when I walk home and I feel extremely sorry for those who are struggling, and I wanted to find a way to help.

Unfortunately, I was unable to do in person service at Giving the Basics because it is too far away, but I did do service at Sherwood Autism Center. Though I could not go to Giving the Basics physically, I am still very glad I chose them as my organization because I strongly agree with what they stand for.

https://givingthebasics.org/

Hi! My name is Keira. I'm in 6th grade at Saint Elizabeth! For my service project I went to Happy Bottoms. I got to pack diapers and label diapers! This was a fun and exciting experience! I chose Happy Bottoms for my service project because I never thought of putting a smile on not only one f!ce but a whole family's face. Not only am I helping these little kids who have to deal with stinky dirty diapers but also a parent knowing their child is comfortable and happy! I got very far in this project. I kept going up although I had some stops. I knew that I could do this and I can keep going and tell myself I am done. This really showed how I can work and work with good outcomes. Although I had some stops I kept growing and kept working. I felt that I progressed the most in the padlet. I had some help but I still helped out and added many facts about happy bottoms in this padlet! I learned many things through this project from Happy Bottoms. I learned work can be hard but just knowing that I may make a tiny difference to this world but I made a big difference to this family! To learn more about Happy Bottoms and their work go to https://padlet.com/knolte27/happy-bottoms-orf1zxjs33mcepiz
