The Magnavox Odyssey is the first video game console to ever be created.
A common misconception is the fact that pong was the first game, the first game was on the Magnavox. The system is controlled by 3 nobs and a button which players move their dot with. This was a first generation console.

This is a system you likely heard of before, it is where the mascot of games first home game came from. The NES (Nintendo Entertainment System) was revolutionary, It was released in 1983. The good part about this is that when this was released, The U.S. suffered a "Video Game Crash" where several video game industries went bankrupt. Luckily Nintendo released the NES, which had widespread success.

The Gameboy was the first handheld console created by Nintendo, it ran on 8 bit graphics. The Gameboy was released in 1989. The team who created the Gameboy was also the the same team who released systems such as the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES see above) and the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES). It was sometimes bundled with the game Tetris.

The Wii (2006) was the first video game console to include motion controls, a feature that allowed players to be more engaged in the game they were playing. I have many fond memories of this console, as it was the first console I ever had. Earlier Wiis had the feature of play games from a entirely different system The Gamecube (I have one of those) which I believe is a unique feature.

The Gamecube was released in 2002. The system was designed as a successor to the N64. It used a mini dvd storage platform, the discs were about the third of the size of a persons hand. One feature of the gamecube was the fact you could connect a Gameboy Advanced to the system.
