Universal Precautions are treating all bodily fluids and/or blood as if they were infected with a disease, in case of actual infection. For example, with wound care, you should wear gloves and wash your hands.

To remove gloves, use one hand and pinch the middle of the other hand's glove and pull off. For the second hand, use 2 fingers under the glove and pull off inside out to be sure you dont touch your bare hand in case of infection. Finally, ball up the gloves and throw them away.

Handwashing is required before and after wound care due to the possibility of infection and spread of disease. For proper handwashing, run your hands under water, then add soap and scrub for at least 20 seconds, and finally rinse.

Signs of excessive bleeding from a wound are when the wound is applied to the wound, but still doesn't stop producing blood. Symptoms from this are fatigue and possible loss of consciousness. If this occurs, you should immediately call 911 and apply as much pressure as possible until emergency services show up.
