In this song, the lyrics, "She finally left him, she had enough of her man's rage Band-aids cover her scars, she left him bloodied", portray revenge and destruction. This same type of vengeance occurs in Romeo and Juliet with Romeo killing Tybalt after he killed Mercutio.

In this song, the lyrics,"Need nothin', to feel power, and bring the killers to their knees Nothin' ta lose vengeance ta gain", vengeance is portrayed as it is with Romeo and Tybalt both being driven by blind revenge. This relates to the real world with people feeling that all they can do to ease the pain of loss is to get revenge.

In this song, the lyrics, "Well, she hit them with her ten cent pistol
Because they ruined her name
Well, she hit them with her ten cent pistol And they've never been the same", show how acts of destruction justified by vengeance cannot be undone. This is similar to how Romeo could not undo his death. This relates to the real world when people who are blind to reason later regret things they did under the influence of revenge, but cannot undo their transgressions.

Hate is my fuel - Destruction

This song portrays how destruction can be achieved out of grief with the lines,"Death brings us together as one The feel to be second to none". An instance when this occurred in the real world, is after the terrorist attack in 911 that killed over 2,000 people caused the united states to come together to grieve their loss, and to take vengeance on the man who orchestrated the attack. This is an instance, in my opinion, where destruction can be justified by vengeance.

Paint it Black - Rolling Stones

In this song, the affects of grief are expressed with the lines,"No more will my green sea go turn a deeper blue I could not foresee this thing happening to you,". The one in the song has recently lost a loved one and does not feel like he will be happy again. This happens twice in the book with both Romeo and Juliet dying and being in despair for the other. This relates in the real world with people feeling that life cannot possibly go on without someone they have lost, and they often try to find someone or something to blame.

All of these songs portray not only Destruction and Vengeance in Romeo and Juliet, but also in the real world with all of the war, hate, and death caused by revenge. I chose this topic because I find the things that people achieve with vengeance is both great and terrible, but interesting. This songs relate to the real world because they were all written based on events that take place in the real world like death, grief, revenge, and destruction. This relates to Romeo and Juliet because while it wasn't written specifically for it, it is based on real events that can be related to it.
