-We are UMD students in a redesigning health care class. UMD has partnered with the local Mona Center to create solutions for problems which may exist in your community
-Last visit: found food access and scholarship to be lacking after interviewing members of the community
-This time, we came up with a possible solution: success fair designed to improve the community and help individuals live a successful life; focuses on creating more opportunities for scholarship, increase food, and awareness about health insurance
-Success Fair will take place at Mona Center over the weekend. There will be two separate events each day, the first will be an urban planting competition and the second will be scholarship competitions.

Urban Planting (Violet)
-help increase healthy food access
-we will provide seeds, pots, soil, and fertilizer which will be distributed at the Mona Center food demonstration area (also provide gardening training and space to grow food)
-one vegetable will be selected to be the main dish and competitors will make a complete meal from that vegetable
-rule: everything has to be home grown or grown at the Mona Center
-budget: either competitors pay $50 to compete or a grocery store can sponsor with money or free food
-reward (if competitors pay to compete): 1st place ($200) 2nd place ($100) 3rd place ($50)

Scholarship Competition (Margaret)
-In the morning, there will be a talent competition. The reward will be scholarship money to pay for college.
-The money will come from the community either through their budget or from competitors
-Only high schoolers or anyone who is applying to college are eligible. There will be an audition before the day of the competition as well.
-The audience will vote for the performance they like the most.

Scholarship Competition (William)
-Later in the day, there will be a sport tournament for scholarship money.
-NBA and NFL athletes who are from PG county will donate money for the scholarships and/or show up to select players for the big scholarship
-There will also be a $1000 team scholarship for the team that wins the tournament 
-Football and basketball (men and women) will be going on at the same time
-draft from high schools before competition
-organizers for the event will put those drafted into their separate teams
