Precipitation falls on the land, flows overland, and runs into rivers, which then empty into the oceans. While much of the water in rivers comes directly from runoff from the land surface, they also gain and lose water to the ground. This was the best example I could find.

I live in Howell and every Sunday there's a farmers' market in the downtown area. Then there's the Way Maker Family Farm which sells eggs. Lastly, there's Spicers. Spicers sells produce including fresh berries, apples, and vegetables mainly during the Summer and Fall seasons.
