On the Sunday before his death, Jesus began his trip to Jerusalem, knowing that soon he would lay down his life for our sins. Nearing the village of Bethphage, he sent two of his disciples ahead. Then Jesus sat on the young donkey and slowly, humbly, made his triumphal entry into Jerusalem and said "Rejoice greatly, O Daughter of Zion! Shout, Daughter of Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and having salvation, gentle and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey. "The crowds welcomed him by waving palm branches in the air”

Last supper

The last supper is when Jesus told 2 disciples “as you go into the city a man carrying water will meet you, follow him, at the house he enters, say to the owner the teacher asks where is the guest room where I can eat the Passover meal with my disciples. He will take you upstairs to a room already with food, that is where you should prepare our meal”. When it was time for dinner all of Jesus’ disciples and Jesus all went to the Passover, had dinner then Jesus took a loaf of bread, gave thanks to it and said to the disciples take this all of you and eat it for this is my body that will be given up for you. Then he took a cup of wine and did the same thing. Then Jesus announced that the people here will betray. They were all wondering and asking if it was me. Then Judas went up and said is it me and Jesus replied yes. The Last Supper is important for Christians because this is an event that has been celebrated since Moses’ time and it was also the time. It is also when Jesus announced where someone sitting with them now will betray him and crucify him on a cross. The Last Supper is also important to Christians because it is a way to remember Jesus and the love God has for humanity. It emphasises the memorial aspect of the meal, and its role of proclaiming Jesus’ death. It emphasises the sharing aspect of the meal, that it brings the community together and unites them in love.

Resurrection

Early on a Sunday morning 2 women Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Jesus were walking to Jesus’ tomb when they saw that the stone had been rolled away from the entrance. So they went in, but the didn’t find Jesus’ body. As they stood there puzzled, two men suddenly appeared to them. The women were terrified and bowed with their faces to the ground. The men said “he has risen go and find him”. The two Mary’s went trying to find jesus then he appeared and said to go and find his disciples. It is important because Jesus has died for our sins and without Jesus we wouldn’t be here where we are today sitting here reading this. It is also important to Christians because if Jesus didn’t go to heaven and run away even though he knew that he would be crucified and re-rose he still could have ran away and not been crucified but he cares and now we celebrate his resurrection because of how brave, loving and caring he was for us.

Pentecost

There were fires lit on the disciples' heads because the Holy Spirit was giving them courage to speak the word. Pentecost started on Sunday, 31st May. While the disciples and others were praying, a huge gust of wind filled the air. The Holy Spirit was consuming the disciples who were praying in the house they were living in. Jesus ascended into heaven right before their eyes and an angel came down saying, “Go, speak the word.” (not exactly but close to these words) Pentecost took place after Jesus had ascended into heaven right before their very eyes. They were praying one day like how they always did after they ascended into heaven then, a wind like one from heaven and they were astonished by what came over them. In the Pentecost story, the disciples, Jesus and the Angels were present in the story. Jesus ascended into heaven and astonished the disciples. The disciples were filled with the Holy Spirit and started proclaiming the good news in different languages that Jesus had risen from heaven. Angels came down from heaven and were telling the disciples that God had promised them a special gift and that gift was to be able to speak in different foreign languages. It is important because this is a special event that commemorates the Crucifixion and Resurrection of Jesus. Also, this event is when Jesus gave the disciples the power to have the Holy Spirit in them which gave them the power to talk in foreign languages and spread to word that Jesus had risen. They had Tongues of Fire from the Holy Spirit and they were all amazed from the word of God. As Jesus Christ promised before he ascended. They had all spoken and spread in their own unique ways and languages.

Mark’s mother was an important follower of Jesus Christ. Mark was a fisherman from a place called Galilee. He was also one of Jesus’ followers but was not one of the twelve apostles. The Lion represents Mark because of what his first gospel begins with. The reason why Mark is a Lion is because he was explaining how John the Baptist was preaching in the wild. His book talks about Peter spreading the gospel to others. Mark wrote the whole gospel. It was written from AD 66 - 70. He says that in the teaching of Jesus and the baptism that he got from John the Baptist. Mark’s gospel is the shortest of them all besides from John’s gospel. Part of Mark's gospel is about Jesus’ death and says things that people might not understand.

Matthew is the son of Alphaeus and was a tax collector. Matthew was sitting in the house of Capernaum then Jesus called him to join him into his company. He came from Capernaum then near Hierapolis. Matthew was recognised as the man on the lectern. His gospel includes miracles from Jesus and also presents Jesus as a teacher better than Moses. Matthew wrote the gospel. It was made a real gospel between AD 80 and 90. It explains the fulfilment of Jesus in the Old Testament. Also, Jesus’ confirmed miracles in Matthew’s gospel were that Jesus opened the eyes of two blind men (Matthew 9:27-31), Jesus loosened the tongue of a man who could not speak (Matthew 9:32-33), Jesus restored a withered hand (Matthew 12:10-13) and Jesus cured a demon-possessed man (Matthew 12:22).

The Gospel of John begins with The creation of earth. “Was the word, and the word was with God, and the word was God” The Book tells us about a poetic hymn, that tells the story of Jesus's origin, mission, and function. John says that Jesus is the incarnated Word of God, bringing “grace and truth,” replacing the law given by Moses, and making God known in the world.
