This image shows a women being accused of witch craft and has been sent into court in Salem, Massachusetts to be justified. This image was taken during the beginning of the trial awaiting for this lady to admit of doing witch craft or not taking any part of witch craft. Whether or not the women actually did witch craft it still didn't determine her likely hood of surviving because back in 1692 an accusation was enough evidence for the court to determine your punishment. There was no so call justice being served in the witch trials only death.

The City Upon A Hill theory stated that the Mass. Bay Colony would build a utopia, so John Winthrop called upon the Puritans to build a powerful ideal Christian society in which God could be found in the scriptures. With Winthrop word the Puritans started to build colleges which would teach the young men and ministers the word of God and that grace was a free gift if salvation.

The witch hysteria grew in Salem due to the Calvinistic belief that Satan was active on Earth, sometimes in the form of disease, natural disasters or misfortunes. All the times that had occurred led to more suspicion that Satan had minions such as witches and warlocks to do his bid for him. The hysteria would not die down due to the fact that everyone would blame one another for participating in witch craft which was commonly mistaken.
