That I believed in them and their ability to do things that they thought they couldn't. That I saw potential in them that they did not see. And most of all that I was a role model for them as a woman and as a person who managed to do a lot considering the curve balls and opportunities life offered me (in the classroom, within the school and in my personal life). As a result making them wonder "If she can do it why not me?"

I think if the children I taught today were at my retirement party, they would talk about how my classroom is not only a fun and engaging space for them to learn in but also a safe space where they could be in any form they wanted to be, where the explored, discovered, succeeded, failed and that at the end of the day, it was all okay.
