It surprised me that by passing the North American Free Trade Agreement that we basically ran tons of Mexican farmers out of their jobs. Forcing them to move towards the cities and scrap the bottom of the already dying barrel so to speak. The numbers of people who turned to the meat packing business also surprised me. Mainly though i was surprised by how much soccer means to the Latino community, they get really emotionally attached to this sport even starting a war over a lost game, which i find to be comical but it goes to show that different countries value different things. i mean we did make a big deal out of throwing tea in water because of taxes.

I think people aren't really taking the problems that occur for people to immigrate in the first place seriously. Most of the money problems that are happening in Mexico alone are America's fault our plan to help them and ourselves back fired onto them and greatly helped us. There are more people than just Mexican- Americans flowing into our country as well and people seem to forget that. Some of these people are fleeing from horrible government problems, dictators who are forcing crazy rules on them. They are running for America because we are supposedly going to greet them with open arms and give them a life worth living, the conditions they have to endure to get here in the first place are close to impossible. People need to wake up and realize not everything is as black and white as it seems

There really is so many words that i could use to describe this and the few other articles i found related to this and that's unbelievable. The things these poor women had to endure just about make a passive person go mad with anger. The journey over to what they hoped was a better life was harsh enough but domestic violence on top if that? So many of them had fears of being tormented by so many different people but then to come home and be terrified that the one place that is supposed to be a safe haven to them away from the craziness outside their doors would be ripped from them or they would be beaten in a fit of anger? I truly started to wonder how many of the cases went unnoticed and for how long?

These poor women lived in fear regardless of everything else that was going on. I can't honestly imagine what it would feel like to jump in fear at a knock on the front door simply because it might be someone coming to ship you off to the place you tried so hard to get away from. When reading the book and reaching the first couple of pages in chapter 8, i couldn't believe my eyes all i could think is... that poor women could they do any more harm? Could anyone else make her fear for her and her children's well being anymore?

Who could really blame them for being scared? I would be in their position too. It's one thing to have struggle day in and day out on meager pay to support and growing family, but it is an entirely different matter to have to go up against a hostile community fighting and yelling for you to be thrown out of the first place you felt somewhat and have held a decent job. These people that are showing so much prejudice don't seem to understand how pigheaded they are making themselves look not only to people they have lived next to and conversed with for years but also to a whole country, because people word of such things as this spread. People fail to realize the impact of their words until it hits home and starts to affect their children. Is this really how you want you children going through life? Sticking their noses up at people before even bothering to know their name?

"Silence breeds Ignorance" Three words that i have heard all my life from several members of my family that definitely describes this quote. When you think about it, it rings true for several instances ignoring the problem or keeping quiet instead of asking questions and making yourself more informed you are laying the foundation for the many problems that arise. What i don't understand about that though is how people can lay back an blame others when they really don't even know what the real issue is. i strongly believe that if people were to come to together and really open their minds, hearts, and ears for just long enough for some of the stories to be heard then the majority of these problems wouldn't exist, and the fear that causes these problems wouldn't exist.

My definition of tolerance is accepting other cultures despite disagreeing with the way that they go about life.

Today tolerance is either one extreme or another, there is no middle ground. Either you are acceptant of things around you or you are completely against it no questions asked or argument can be said to sway you another way you are completely set in your ways and thats it. I was raised in a background that said you shouldn't just push people just because you don't understand the way they go about things. my parents raised me to be mindful of others' struggles and to keep that in mind before voicing an opinion. I expect my community to not exactly just accept everything and move on but to at least have an open mind and not shoot someone down because of a difference.

Those pages kind of upset me, the way it was handled was in a very mature manner and that i thought was great ,but the poster being up in the first place was just unacceptable. Jokes such as that are just hurtful and uncalled for. I can't blame Paul for being angry and frustrated. That poster was not as harmless as they thought. I was glad that when confronted the coach immediately fixed the problem instead of making a scene.

Articles such as this really do put the "they are taking our jobs" arguments to rest. Here are some American farmers cutting back on the amount of crops they decide to plant because they no longer have workers to help collect the harvest. This is just yet another example of jobs that most Americans feel they are too good for yet complain when a hard working soul comes in and takes it who may not have been born and breed on American soil. I think that by now this argument should be obsolete but many people will continue to argue this point long into their death bed.

Farmers are really the people who are losing out right now. They are losing money as well as land. and the same people who are complaining about who they employ eat the very food those employees pick with no problem. I often wonder how the would handle the situations that they put immigrants through themselves. In my opinion the wouldn't handle it well probably not even lasting a week in those same conditions and yet they still continue to argue on. What will they do when no one cares enough to listen?

I feel as though my family history influences me greatly in both good and bad ways. I think thats its good that there is a balance of the two. Every member of my family has influenced my way of thinking in different ways. "Life may end tomorrow but family is forever." My father is really good about having a quote that describes almost every aspect of life. When thinking of my family history normally my mind does wander to the bad rather than the good. Both halves of my family have come from struggles that most would have crumbled in an instant. My family came together as a whole when i was seven and when my younger siblings were still in diapers and barely able to speak. My mom and I had been the grinder and truly I couldn't see the light at the end of the tunnel, that is until my dad shone the lantern. Both my parents come from broken homes where only one parent truly was capable of love but sadly couldn't around due to money issues or job related problems. They know what it is like to struggle.

My parents have told us time and time again that when they were growing up they always said to themselves their children would never have to feel the emptiness that they suffered, they have held true to their promise. Though they expect more from me not only because I am older but also because I too have seen the darkness and at such an age so young that i shouldn't have been able to understand what the pain meant. Things like this made me grow up fast and see the world in the same light as my parents and older sister but differently than my younger siblings and older brother. My father has told me that because of this i have a knack for reading people that protects me from most cruelty now, I am glad for this.

The bad influences include many thing such as weariness to trust many and fear of putting my trust in the wrong people despite my carefulness. The good have to be my maturity and positive outlook on what the future holds for both me and my family. I strongly believe in karma just from watching what has happened to my family over the years. Bad childhoods lead into fruitful adulthoods. Horrible experiences lead to powerful influences and inspirations. My family is stronger because of the struggles and when i hear "you cant choose your family" the first thing that crosses my mind is " maybe so, but i wouldn't want any others besides my own."

I think he is being reasonable to an extent. I'm sure it has a fair amount of troubles and there might have been some prejudice that he didn't mention. He tells Paul that the environment that he works in is "too white" for him which could be understandable if say they are doing things that may seem normal to them but makes him feel like an outsider. I honestly wish that Lenin would have toughed it out because i don't think that besides him getting out of a negative situation there were really any positive effects.

Paul believes that it is more of a cultural background difference than anything that's making Lenin uncomfortable. He makes a reference to how the Latino young people seem to thin kin his opinion saying that they see everything in "brown and white". In other words you were either Hispanic or white and either way something was happening to keep the cultural barriers up. I think that Lenin would have been okay if there were more Latinos in his workplace so he would have had someone to bond to and talk the problems they were facing together. Then again i don't think he thought about the qualifications it took to get the job and the possibility of him not getting another job like it

Was built on land belonging to a man named William Petty. once home to textiles, the largest clothing mill in the world and poultry. Water supply comes from the Haw River and Jordan Lake. The town was named after William Pitt the Younger. The Civil War brought a temporary halt to development in Pittsboro. In 1888 the Pittsboro Railroad was built connecting Pittsboro to Raleigh.

This article is about violence among immigrants especially domestic violence against illegal women. The article outlines Obama's plans to extend the outreach of the the bill. It also explains why immigrant women are less likely to report abuse the American women. This bill gives the abused women a way to get away from the abuse that their husbands put them through.

This article corresponds with my argument in one key way that I think ways a difference. This article outlines one reason that the Dream Act is necessary, the reservations being that these women would be put under some kind of protection that would keep them from having to endure such torment again, because giving them citizenship will not shield them from things such as this.

Immigration will always be in the back of our minds even as we hit 30 and 40. Immigration will never go away. If you think about it even when we reach the age that we are beginning to retire, people will still be immigrating into America. America is the home of the brave and land of the free, so of course people are always going to want to be here. Throughout history America was the fall back country, anytime a country's leader or government failed miserably or went crazy with power the citizen ran for cover in our homeland. That will never change.

Gay marriage is the biggest issue today and I believe even if we become one of the countries who has legalized it as a whole people will still continue to talk about it. Prejudice is like the life blood of the U.S. our people are not happy unless they have something to pitch a fit about, whether it be sexuality or the color of someone's skin. Yes obviously gay marriage and the discussions about it affect me more than some because it affects my future, my life, but thats besides the point. We all have heard the sayings going around "most gay marriages will outlive straight marriages because they cherish it more." well I disagree. Honestly gay people are the same as anyone else our preferences are just different. We still like to read, play sports or video games, draw, ride dirt bikes or atvs. Just to name a few. So yes we still screw up and are just as capable if not more to ruin a marriage, i think the gay youth of this generation will take marriage being legalized for granted just like many other things. We all need a huge wake up call before we can really be grateful for the things we have now.
