Within California, there is no shortage of schools that offer amazing civil engineering programs and even some that directly offer degrees in construction management. some of the top engineering schools include UC Berkeley, Cal Poly SLO, and University of Southern California.
According to the us bureau of labor stats, "
Construction managers typically need a bachelor's degree in construction, business, engineering or a related field." A degree higher than Bachelor's will always present a candidate as more suitable, but under no means is it required. With the right amount of schooling, one degree should be enough. The US bureau also comments that the courses included in these areas of study similarly pertain to "project control and management, design, construction methods and materials, and cost estimation". In summary, classes with business material, such as communications and money management, and classes with actual construction material are most useful when it comes to qualifying for the position of a construction manager.
