The lesson went really well! I loved that using QFT helped all of my students be active participants in the lesson. They felt like they had ownership and a voice in their learning and I heard great ideas from students who have been pretty quiet so far this school year. It also increased engagement because students were looking for and researching to find answers to the questions they developed. They were looking for information that interested them! I'll definitely use this strategy again.

Since I'm completing this model during the summer I am unable to give feedback on the lesson. I am looking forward to using the QFT with my first graders during the school year. I think it will increase student ownership and I love the amount of collaboration and student engagement that this technique encourages. I do find it challenging for first graders to develop strong, meaningful questions and I'm excited to use this model to help my students begin to improve their higher level thinking and questioning.

This lesson went very well. I was able to see if each student had a complete understanding of the presented topic. It is a procedure that we are continually using, so I was able to clarify misconceptions and students were able to determine on their own the importance of the topic being covered. I loved this strategy and want to try this strategy again when I am introducing a new concept to my students.

I did my lesson with 2nd graders. It went well, but it is a challenging concept to teach the younger kiddos. I had to by purposeful with my groupins. They did a great job filling in their question map ( The 11x13 poster) with a lot of supports. It is a great strategy to get them talking and thinking. I did it at the beginning of a first read about ants and aphids. I did provide some background knowledge about ants and aphids, but I did not get too detailed. I enjoyed walking around and listening to their conversations, and guided their discussions. We also did a gallery walk to look at other groups, then I let them add to their poster as they came back together with their groups. I look forward to doing this lesson again and adding to it.
