I began my career at TDCJ in December 2024 as a Correctional Officer IV. After two years of experience, along with demonstrated leadership abilities, problem-solving skills, effective communication, professionalism, and a strong performance record, I have applied for a Sergeant position. In Huntsville, TX, I attended Sergeant training for two and a half weeks and passed. As a Sergeant, I was responsible for supervising correctional officers and ensuring the facility's safety and security.

In addition to working as a correctional officer, I can progress to higher positions such as Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain, or even administrative positions. The progression aligns with a vision of continuous professional development. Having a job in corrections can give me a sense of duty and purpose. The satisfaction that comes from knowing I play a key role in keeping prisons safe and orderly can be highly fulfilling.
