-A Bill to Ban The Use (and Manufacturing) of Plastics (specifically bags, cups, bottles) in the Industrial and Commercial Sector:
Sponsor: Diego Sunga
It has come to my attention that pollution has greatly affected our healthy community, specifically with plastic-litter material. Items such as: plastic bags, styrofoam cups, plastic bottles, and an array of other plastics can be found strewn about on roads, trees, public property, and natural habitats. Although it may only seem as a small pollution issue, plastic degrades the environment in many ways. First, plastics and styrofoam can take up to 450 years to decompose within landfills, or when littered, and some are even nonbiodegradable. Once they decompose, plastics may release harmful chemicals such as Bisphenol A. Second, manufacturing plastic releases harmful carcinogens into the air, creating greenhouse gases. Third, plastics become very harmful towards animals and their environments, especially when wild life and oceanic life consumes it or becomes trapped within it. Thus, I believe it is necessary to ban common plastics, (such as plastic bags and styrofoam material), from daily life because they pose a threat to the environment, animal life, and our own well-being. This bill, if enacted, would ban the use (and Manufacture) of plastic-litter material such as: plastic bags, styrofoam cups, plastic bottles, and plastic wrappings.

As fossil-fuel burning vehicles are one of the highest contributors to the increase in global temperatures through the emission of greenhouse gases, the main goals of this bill is to reduce the percentage of fuel-burning vehicles. Ideally, this bill will result in the presence of effective and affordable electric vehicles in the mass market by 2025, offsetting the percentage of fuel-burning vehicles by a wide margin.

Today prisons are acting as mental facilities for the mentally ill despite them being a poor substitute for actual help, and in most cases worsening the problem. This bill will help these patients to thrive and become upstanding citizens after their release.
